Running True Image as normal user under Windows 7

Thread needs solution

Is there any chance to run the TrueImageLauncher.exe under a normal user account under Windows 7 ?

In our case we had installed True Image 2010 Home on a new notebook with Windows 7 Pro under administrator account for all users.
When a normal user logs in and tries to start True Image or the One-Click Backup the UAC catches in and asks for an administrator account. When ignoring this and typing in a non administrator account, the start will fail.

Our goal is to enable a normal user to start a predefinied backup task without knowing the administrator password. But currently a normal user (or even backup operator) is not able to even get access to the scheduler.

Hello Tim,

Let me assist you.

Unfortunately, Acronis True Image is designed to run tasks only under the accounts with administrative privileges.

However, you can set up necessary scheduled tasks once using the Administartor credentials and they'll be performed automatically, i.e. when you schedule a task please enter Administrator username and password. The task you've created will be executed under administrator account and you don't need to enter the credentials again.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.

So then how does one use Nonstop Backup for a normal (non-administrator) user? There doesn't seem to be a way to have Nonstop Backup copy any user's files other than the user account that is used to start Acronis True Image, which must be an administrator account.

Hello Timothy,

Welcome to our forum and thank you for your query. I will definitely assist you.

The current program design implies that to access most of the program functions the user must have administrative privileges. You can check this article for more information. I will however submit your feedback to our Development team and just in case, you can always submit your feedback to us from this link.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Ilya: I am not sure what you mean by "you can set up necessary scheduled tasks once using the Administrator credentials and they'll be performed automatically, i.e. when you schedule a task please enter Administrator username and password."

I am running the latest version of TIH with Plus Package and I don't see where I can enter the username and password in the schedule for the backup tasks.

Thanks,
Sco
