Retrieving/deleting old backups after reinstallation of OS

Thread solved

I have had to reinstall the OS on one of my HP Probooks.  I had a number of system images and File & Folder backups saved to a external HDD.

When I have reinstalled ATI 2021 onto the system I can no longer see any of the previous backup jobs

Is there a way of getting these back into ATI?

If not, which would seem totally illogical to me, how do I go about accessing the backups?

If I am unable to access these backups how do I go about deleting them?  Can I just delete them through File Explorer?

RF, you can add old backup to the ATI 2021 GUI by using the 'Add existing backup' option provided or else, if these backups are not listed in the GUI, then you could delete them via Explorer if they are not wanted.

Note: if Acronis Active Protection is active, it will still prevent any actions such as deleting, copying or moving backup files, so you need to temporarily disable / turn off AAP.

Thank you Steve.

Out of interest, is there a way to add multiple backups at the same time as although when I added the backup files there was a tick box at the top left of the screen when I ticked this it did not allow me to add multiple files.

Also, ATI now tells me I have to reconfigure the backups.  I assume this is because the OS has changed.  I have not done this but instead creaed new backup jobs.  As long as I can recover folders/files/images without needing to reconfigure the old backup job I do not see this as a problem.  Can you confirm that this should be fine.

There is no option to add multiple existing backups - only one at a time, but just adding in the most recent file for each task should be sufficient and Acronis will find the associated files.

Reconfigure is only needed if you want to continue the added backup task, it isn't needed if you just want to be able to recover some files or folders etc.  In fact, you don't need to add the backup at all to do the latter as you can simply double-click on any existing .tib or .tibx file and open this in Explorer where you can use normal Copy & Paste commands without using the ATI GUI interface.

See KB 65547: Acronis True Image 2021: how to restore files from a backup (Windows) and scroll down the page to 'How to restore files in File Explorer' which you should find easier to use if only wanting to recover some files.

Thanks Steve.
