can't mount image

Thread needs solution

How to gain access to image ?

While i was making an image of an old server using acronis server backup and recovery, i lost control on it, black screen !
This occured 20 mn after the backup ended, so there is a good luck that everything was saved.
Another brand new server ordered to replace the old one is sitting there waiting to start with the image.
The backup contains around 90 Gb of data in one tib file
The server was containing around 139 Gb of files.
Now there is no way to build another backup file, the disks are DEAD.
I attempted with the help of the support to gain control on the dead disks but nothing shows using WinPE+raid drivers, no disks anymore, everything seems blown.
Yesterday i tried to restart the server, this time, no more power, it is definitely dead.

Now how can i gain access to the image.
The mount command displays the following error code where it says it can't find specified archive.

Détails
Code : 10 551 303(0xA10007)
Module : C:\Program Files\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\mms.exe
Message : Impossible de trouver l'archive spécifiée.

I attempted to mount it with and without USB, with and without Acronis 11.
I need to at least rescue some database files.
Thank you.

Hello Vbox,

Welcome to our Forum, we're glad to greet you here. I understand your concern, and will do my best to assist you.

I have found your case opened with support, and sent a speed-up request, so you should receive a reply shortly. Should there be any procrastination from the support's side, please, let me know.

Unfortunately due to the lack of sufficient diagnostic it's hard to tell whether anything can be done in this case. If the archive was on the failed hard drives, it may happen so that we won't be able to retrieve the information due to the hardware failure.

If the image is in some other location, I would advise you to check this KB article for a solution. Please let us know whether it helped you or not.

Should the issue remain, please provide us with the detailed information regarding the backup location and exact error you receive.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

Hello and thank you for your kind reply.
The support team is at it's top of the art, they are very nice !
To give you more informations :

The image built was sent to a distant server offering windows share, more exactely, this share is hosted on a linux machine which works like a charm. The distant server is one year old and has new disks as well.

The server which died was with Backup & Recovery 10 installed on it.
It was a raid 5 disk structure with 3 hard disks.
I can't say wether the image ran up to the end or not because i got black screen when i wished to check the status of the backup.
One disk alarm (was turned red) and no way to gain control on the server again.
The server was rebooted but apart raid controller complaining about a damaged disk it was not able to boot anymore.
I checked HP support in the hope to get the raid back on it's feets.
I followed their instructions to launch the raid again but nothing helped.

Lately i learned by ontrack that they were two disks damaged which is a bad bad new when you have a raid 5 with 3 disks.
The one which turned red was definitely lost and there was another one which remained with green status but which was already in "Internal Failure" status. The controller didn't noticed this failure on boot.
In fact this second disk was in an erratic flipping state from on to off and reverse.
This has probably put the server in frozen status hanging the work of Acronis Backup & Recovery which was sending it's file on the distant server.

In despite of all, i attempted even to convert the archive to a vmware machine, the vmware log reports a CRC error.
Now the big question, how could i force the archive to be seen as a "regular" archive, or how to correct the crc.
Between all the compressed garbage that the archive contains (90 Gb), i need only maybe 3 or 4 Gb of mdb files.
The archive sits on the distant machine, not the dead one of course.
I checked the rights on the file, left total control over it to everybody, i copied it locally on the new machine with a brand new raid 10 but nothing helps.

We are in the worst situation where the archive is definitely corrupted probably due to a death while in work.
From here i know, nothing can be done, it's dead and no one on earth can rescue this archive but is it really ?
No recovery program would be able to travel within the archive to attempt correct what is broken or maybe slice the archive in smaller chunks and calculate the crc for each little 2 Gb chunk ?
