Saving Images to Buffalo NAS Drive
HI All
First post here.
I have been using version 10 of Backup and Recovery for a while.
Always used a USB Hard drive to save images to in the past.
We recently purchased a Network Buffalo Link Station Duo which is accessible from our network in the following ways: (via IP or Host Name)
FTP
SMB Shares
I can confirm from a windows machine (XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7) We are able to access the SMB Shares and FTP Site without any authentication.
But...
When we try and access either the FTP or the SMB Share from within Acronis we are either prompted for a username password or it simply wont connect at all.
Has anyone seen this before? Can any one let me know if im doing something wrong?
I have opened the shell on Acronis, and i can confirm i can PING the device, and i can even see it when browsing the network from Acronis, but when we try to access it it requests a user name and password. Even when i enter one of the U/P's which are configured (although we don't need to use them as there is no access restrictions) it still wont let us in!
Any advice appreciated!
Cheers
Ben

Ben,
I do exactly what you are talking about and it works just fine for me. However I have user accounts setup on my NAS and map the NAS as a network drive before restoring the image.

Hello Ben and Brian,
Thank you for your comments! Brian, thank you for your help, we really appreciate it.
Dear Ben, thank you for finding time to report about the issue. Due to the security reasons, Acronis Backup and Recovery requires an account creation on the target location if it's a network resource. Thus once you create an login and password and enter it in the product, all should work fine.
Should the issue remain, please send us Wireshark and Acronis Info from machine in quesiton.
Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!
Thank you!

Thanks Guys
A had a few problems that you should know about.
Firstly, within Acronis, if browsing the device simply by the name that shows up under network it simply would not work. Even with username and password and access restrictions.
As soon as i tried to access the restricted share using its Full IP and Share name (i.e. \\192.168.20.2\Acronis) it then asked for a password and accepted one.
Another issue may have been the share name originally being called Acronis_Images
Acronis may not have liked the _
As soon as i removed this and did as mentioned above all is working like a charm!
Thanks Gents!
