Backup and Restore don't work

Thread needs solution

Hello,

My PC is running Windows 7 32 bits edition.

Not aware of the fact that Acronis True Image 11 Home is not supported Under Windows 7, I installed it and after uninstalling it I found that the Backup and Restore function of the Control panel do not work anymore.

I did every Register Cleanup I could do and that was suggested on various forums and the function still doesn't work

What should I do ?

Merci thanks for a quick answer.

Serge

Either it was version 2011, that is compatible with Windows 7 and was known to mess with these control panel settings in an undesired way, or it is old version 11 (from year 2007) that is not expected to touch control panel in any way. Also see http://kb.acronis.com/content/14741

Hello,

Great thanks for being readily responsive. In fact it was the old version 11 from year 2007 you mentioned. What's weird is that when I installed then uninstalled the 1st time. The control panel was unharmed but when I did it the 2nd time then I couldn't get the backup/restore working...

I will try the solution you pointed at and give you a feedback.

Many thanks

Serge

Hi,

I feel greatly indebted to you. I tried your solution...and it worked !
French support team was unable to give me the least clue...

Great thanks

Serge

I have the same issue. I click on Control Panel - "Backup and Restore" and absolutely nothing happens - no window opens, no spinner spins, focus doesn't switch. It is as if I had not clicked anything. I too had tried Acronis 2011; its been uninstalled for a while; this is probably the first time Ive tried Windows Backup and Restore since then.

The .reg fix from http://kb.acronis.com/content/14741\ errors, whether it is run from Explorer or as a regedit Import, with "not all data was successfully written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or another process". Same error in Safe Mode. These are the .reg utility fix contents:

Acronis is uninstalled, it certainly isn't running. How can I get my Windows Backup and Restore working again? -Thanks

If this doesn't work, you can do a repair install of Windows.
