Acronis True Image 2020 support under Windows 11

Thread needs solution

Before I upgrade to Windows 11, I would like to know if True Image 2020 works under Windows 11

Thanks,

Larry

Larry, there are no current versions of ATI that supports Windows 11 as this is a Beta OS.

See KB 60589: Acronis True Image: Windows Insider Program (beta) builds support

ATI 2020 may work or it may not as it has never been tested with Windows 11.

I am in the Inside Program. I downloaded win 11 and all went ok. I tried true image and did not like the way it was taking so long. Canceled the backup and went back to win 10. Don't want to go to win 11 without a good backup program. The big question is whether True image is only going to get true image 2021 to work with win 11. I plan on sticking with ver 2020. Don't like the new policy of true image upgrades that make you upgrade every year.

Larry, assuming Acronis follows its normal product cycle with True Image, ATI 2021 will not support be updated to support Windows 11 as it will not be released until after ATI 2021 goes out of support - one month after the release of ATI 2022. In recent years new versions have been released at the end of August, so if Windows 11 is released after that date then it would not be covered by the support policy. Also, strictly the proposed Windows 11 is not a supported OS, so ....

Hello Everyone,

support of Windows 11 will be added in the next major product version. Currently, the compatibility of Acronis True Image 2021 and Windows 11 Insider builds is not guaranteed.

I have been backing up my laptop of Windows 10 without any problems with a USB drive. Now I have Windows 11 and I am having problems. My Laptop has a 500 GB drive and my backup is a 200gb drive. I am only using about 100GB on the 500GB. Acronis will not make a copy. It says the drive is not large enough. I actually went to a 1TB drive and it copied it and it took about 10 hours.

Acronis worked fine when I had Windows 10, but it seems to be having issues with 11. I am still testing and I will give more information.

Does this mean users have to wait until some time in 2020 2022 when replacement product is apparently scheduled for release; not good as Windows 11 starts rolling out about October 10. So users will need to defer upgrading, but that is not a solution for those buying a new system.

Ian, think you meant 'some time in 2022' rather than 2020 unless you have a working Tardis time machine!

For me, 'next major product version' suggests the new Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office rather than a new build of ATI 2021, which in turn will mean a subscription purchase (probably) for any existing ATI users unless they already have a subscription for 2021 and are happy to continue along the road that version has brought!

I doubt we will see any new builds with Windows 11 support for existing versions of ATI such as 2021 or 2020 etc.  Once again, Acronis are the only ones who can give a definitive answer to these questions but haven't done so yet!

+1

"next major product version" I think may be ATI 2022  or Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office 2022.

I think Windows 11 has Core Isolation - Memory Integrity turned on for better security...
so will Acronis finally fix the broken tib.sys that prevents us securing our PCs in Windows 10 by making it backup compatible with Windows 11?

We live un hope that when it arrives the new (as distinct from being little more than a name change) arrives, which I understand will be in the first half of 2022.

Has anyone gotten ATI 2021 to work with Windows 11? I tried and got 'Failed to create volume snapshot.' message.

DR, I have got both ACPHO and ATI 2019 working just fine with two Windows 11 systems I am using for testing, so cannot see why ATI 2020 / 2021 shouldn't also work too.

The 'Failed to create volume snapshot' error suggest a Microsoft VSS issue rather than an issue with ATI 2021.

Have you tried running the Acronis VSS Doctor tool (link below)?  This may throw some more light on the VSS issue.
