run backups from command line in TI 2021?

Thread solved

Is it possible to run backups from command line in TI 2021?

I found this KB article for 2019 and older but can not find anything for 2021.

Thanks,

Ian, welcome to these public User Forums.

Yes, you can run backups from the command line and this is covered by KB 47143: Acronis True Image: How to run backups from Command Line even though it doesn't mention ATI 2021 in the 'Applies to' heading section.

The key points of doing this are first to have already created a backup task & configured this in the main ATI GUI application - this is necessary in order for a script file to be created for the task that will be referenced from the command line.

Secondly, the command line task needs to be run as Administrator.

Thank you sir,

The command gives no output and I was running it on a drive that had very little changed since the last backup so it appeared to be doing nothing. I was running it on a SSD drive so there is no mechanical noise to indicate activity either. Once I ran the command on my old school drive I knew it was doing something. Then of course I noticed a new backup record in the GUI backups activity page.

I have placed the command in a cmd file so I can echo my own output like "Backup Complete"

Is there a list of switches for TrueImageHomeNotify.exe or do any exist other than /script?

It would be nice to have a /v for verbose switch or some way to get the output that shows in the GUI activity page so I could parse it and decide what I want to include in custom log files.

I'm uploading my current cmd file in case it is helpful to anyone. Well, renamed to txt because the forum won't allow cmd files. It's a work in progress and I'm new to batch scripting.

Ian, you may find it easier to download a copy of the MVP Assistant tool (link in my signature) and use that to see the actual log files that are created by all Acronis backup tasks.

There is a new MVP Assistant log viewer tool that has now been made available by Acronis via the Community Tools page..

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant.

The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.
