Please, add possibility manually disable automatic disk conversion from MBR to GPT by recovery

Thread solved

I used Acronis to backup my old notebook disk (disk is failing) on my computer and wanted use recovery function for creating new MBR disk for my notebook. (My computer is using GPT and Secure Boot.) By recovery is new disk for my old notebook automatically converted to GPT format and it's not possible disable this conversion... But my old notebook doesn't support UEFI boot. I know this automatic conversion is very good for most normal users, but i think it would be very good to have possibility manually disable this conversion in "Recovery options". I used Acronis bootable media and SATA to USB adapter on my notebook to create new OS disk, but this is not very comfy solution...

Karel, welcome to these public User Forums.

Sorry but this is a known limitation caused by Acronis' desire to over simplify things for users!

Please submit Feedback directly to Acronis (use the tool provided in the GUI Help section) and ask for your vote to be added to the Acronis internal feature request: TI-179333 Allow selecting the boot mode (BIOS or UEFI) after recovery/cloning.

Thanks, Steve

Hello Karel,

sorry to know about the difficulties! Registered this topic as a vote for the existing change request TI-179333 Allow selecting the boot mode (BIOS or UEFI) after recovery/cloning.

Has there been any movement on the change request, or are there any work arounds to prevent automatically converting to GPT?  I spent many hours trying to figure out why none of my backups would boot today.  It's very frustrating.

Thanks!

Chad
