No way to change backup destination ip address in ATI 2021

Thread needs solution

I am using ATI 2021 with Synology NAS running a hybrid RAID. I have tried the first steps from previous threads of editing the registry to remove the old/erroneous ip address that changed due to a necessary router reboot. I have also tried the steps to replace the new ip address. The options that were mentioned in a similar topic thread are not available in ATI 2021. As of right now, I have a backup that I can only access by looking at the versions through browsing to the mapped network drive. I don't seem to have a way to fix this. I would appreciate some help from Acronis since this is not the first time it has happened to me. Maybe I am stupid for continually updating their software.

Steven, welcome to these public User Forums.

I have avoided this type of issue with my own Synology NAS by allocating a fixed IP address to it so that the address never changes.

You can set the static IP address in the Synology DSM Control Panel > Network > Network Interface settings.

For NAS it is much more convenient to have IP address (called Reserve in my Asus router). Rebooting the router does not run the risk of assigning a different IP address. It is a ling time since I set my DISKSTATION but I think my settings are similar to Steve Smith's.

I'd add to Steve's solution, that if you opt for fixed IP on the NAS, it's still advised to set it so it's outside the DHCP range of your router. Otherwise the IP you set may be assigned by the DHCP server to some other device and you'll have an IP conflict.

Peter, good comment - my router allows me to specify the starting address for the range of DHCP addresses it offers, so this can be set beyond the static IP address used, or it also allows me to set any reserved IP addresses based on the MAC address the device uses (which is what I have done for my NAS static IP address).

Steven, sorry to know you've faced difficulties with accessing backups due to the changed IP address. I've added this topic as a vote for the feature request TI-170272 Allow changing the plan settings when the target location is not available, thank you!

I too use a Synology NAS (now have two of them). I don't do anything in Synlogy DSM as it is all handled through my Asus router. I assign a fixed IP address for every device in my house... PCs, NAS, printer, cell phones, etc. That way, there is never any change to the IP address for the device and I can easily create shortcuts and links that always work.

Ditto Bruno's advice.

I am not a parrot, but I do much the same. I have a large number of devices on my network that I need ftp access to, and having reserved IP address set in my Asus router make life much easier.
