Backup stops with WriteFileNoCache

Thread needs solution

Config:
2 Vista laptops doing weekly incremental backups weekly
ATI 2011
Backup over WiFi
Backup Target is NAS connected to WiFi router

Problem:
I've had this problem since ATI 2009, and have never been able to fix it... I've replaced the NAS and also the WiFi Router in hopes of getting a smooth running backup. This happens on both laptops.

Typically the backup runs for awhile, and eventually stops with an error. I click retry and it proceeds as if nothing had happened. I've tried all settings I can think of, throttling the disk i/o, network i/o, compression settings, and nothing I do has fixed this. I read a few other messages with similar errors and there does not seem to be a solution. There are no errors, no outages, no problem detected except for the failed backup.

Log shows (today, it failed twice..)

I have a similar problem with ATI 2011 on Windows 7 SP1 64 bit. The error says "System cannot find the path specified."

I am backing up a 1 TB C: drive to a 1 TB D: drive, both internal drives that I can write to with other applications. I tried browsing from within ATI to the location and was able to select the location without a problem.

I've attached the log file.

Hello PRM and Capn!

Thank you for finding time to report about the issue, I will be glad to help you.

I have carefully checked the logs attached, and all our internal resources, and found no mention of a known issue that would match your description. Log files also doesn't shed the light onto the problem's cause, so the situation requires investigation. Could you please gather  the below information:

  1. Acronis Info
  2. Wireshark

open a support request, and let us know it's number?

Let us know if you have any questions or concerns, we will be glad to help.

Thank you!

Yana,

Thanks for the response. I have collected the Acronis Info, but don't think the Wireshark info applies in my case.  I am backing up one internal drive to another internal drive, not going across my network.  Is Wireshark info still important?

I believe that my issue is related to the installation of SP1 for Windows 7 64-bit. I had a valid back up to my new 1 TB drive on Monday Feb. 21. I installed SP1 on Tuesday, Feb. 22, and since then have been unable to get a scheduled or manual back up to work.

Your "open a support request" takes me to the Wireshark page. Is that correct? Also, I see that Acronis provides no free support for TI 2011 beyond the first 30 days. I purchased my TI 2011 back in September, so I have to pay for support?

Thanks.

Dear Capn,

Thank you for your comment, and for keeping us posted.

I'm very sorry for the inconvenience caused with the link to contacting support: some error occured during my comment submission, and the links got duplicated. I've corrected it, please check the new link added.

You are absolutely correct, in case you're saving the image to the internal drive, Wireshark is not relevant and not needed - it's related to the network issues only. Thus Acronis Info is sufficient for us in this case.

I will be looking forward to news from you.

Thank you for cooperation!
