Why won't Acronis 2021 restore my tibx file.

Thread needs solution

Why would Acronis 2021 backup my computer with a tibx file only to have their Rescue Media Builder not be able to read my tibx file. It doesn't make sense, Maybe they forget to update Media Builder. Is there software to convert the file to tib?

Alex, welcome to these public User Forums.

Not sure why your post here is in the forum for Mobile devices?

ATI 2020 & 2021 always create new Disks & Partitions backups (including 'Entire PC') as .tibx files and are both fully capable of restoring and reading these files.

What do you mean by: "only to have their Rescue Media Builder not be able to read my tibx file"?

Sorry but the Rescue Media Builder is for exactly what it describes, building rescue media - it doesn't care about .tib or .tibx files as such and doesn't reference or touch these during its processing.

If you have a .tibx file created by ATI 2021 of your Windows C: disk drive, then you need to create the 'Simple' version of the rescue media and this will work correctly with the .tibx file.

See KB 65508: Acronis True Image 2021: how to create bootable media and KB 59877: Acronis True Image: how to distinguish between UEFI and Legacy BIOS boot modes of Acronis Bootable Media

Can you explain where I can create the bootable drive to restore this image? The boot media that acronis creates and it  does not restore this file type. Simple or not, I have even downloaded the one from the website still nothing. I just had to convert to .tib problem solved. It would be nice to know how to restore this new file type.

Sorry but a lot more information is needed here to understand what issue you are seeing?

If you have converted a tibx file to tib then the only way that would work is if the original file was created as .tib and had been renamed to .tibx.
