What's new in this True-Image version ?

Thread needs solution

A TrueImage 2018 problem

I have used T-I 2018 to backup and clone my primary workstation. I was not very successful trying to re-image the original disk to a raid setup on this same hardware (see my questions previously, they are on the forum )

I also note that Acronis deny any responsibility for cloning / re-imaging a disk to a raid set for the 2018 version.

TrueImage 2021 use

Now, I see that Acronis states the 2021 version will work with hardware raid provided one has the drivers available.

Does anyone have experience of cloning / re-imaging a Windows 8.1 disk to a simple SATA 4 disk raid set and getting everything in Windows 8.1 to work as normal, using T-I 2021 ?

Back to the original problem

My only problem with the T-I 2018 version trial that I carried out was that the Raid image did not set up the sound for the Windows 8.1 operating system. I spent a week trying all the options I could think of to install the sound drivers. Nothing worked.

Tried it with linux

However, Fedora and Redhat worked fine using the same backup processes. My theory So the problem appears to be some connection between disk sector imaging to RAID due to the hardware RAID's sector management of Windows 8.1 disk sectors ????

I don't want to use Windows 10 or 11, so don't discuss it if you have nothing to add.

Donald, if you are using hardware RAID then there should be no real difference between ATI 2018 or 2021 providing that your RAID array of disks present as a 'single drive' to the rescue media being used to restore your backup image, and that image was created of the full disk with all hidden / system partitions.

The recommendation for rescue media is to create the 'Simple' WinPE media version where this has to be done from within Windows 8 in order to use files / device drivers from the Windows Recovery Environment.

I cannot comment on any testing done with different Linux OS tools as there is no Acronis version of True Image that works in those environments natively.

Thank you Steve,

I should clarify the Linux comment I made. I meant using Linux without acronis to transfer a single disk linux image to the RAID set I used for the Windows transfer.
