Target drive is running out of space ... on a new 2 TB drive
I'm using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and have just upgraded from TrueImage Home 2010 to 2011.
I back up my machine to a NAS drive, a QNAP TS-219P+ with 2x 2 TB drives in RAID. Of the 2 TB, about 1.6 TB is free. TrueImage runs as Administrator, and can access and write to the drive just fine. I'm connected via gigabit ethernet.
I get the error "Target drive is running out of space - delete unneccessary files or choose another archive location".
The target drive isn't running out of space, there are no unnecessary files, and I can't choose a different archive location. What can I do?
I'm using "True Image Home 2011 Update 1 build 6587"

I too have this same problem ("target drive is running out of space") with Window 7 x64 using a 2TB backup WD external HD. Until recently things were going along very smoothly. Indeed the space is now down to 102 GB. In the Backup options/Error handling I selected "When not enough space in ASZ, delete the oldest backup". So I don't understand why I am getting this error. Can you please advise what to do? It wasn't long since I purchased this upgrade as well as Plus Pack, so I expect (and depend) on this to be working.

It depends on your backup settings. ATI will always request enough space to do a new backup completely before deleting older backups. For example if you do a new backup, and your backup size is close or above 102GB, you won't be able to proceed.
You mention the ASZ, are you backing up to the ASZ? Is this an ASZ you set up with your previous version of ATI?

I must confess I didn't understand what ASZ was, and after checking, probably I am not using this. So how does one configure the ATI 2011 settings to permit auto deletion of the oldest backup files, so the backup routine can be unattended? I thought that is what I had configured. I am using differential backup scheme with validation.
Many thanks

Jack,
Edit your backup settings (operations > Edit Backup Settings)
Click on the Backup Options (lower left corner)
Go to the Backup Scheme tab
Choose Custom Backup Scheme
Choose full, differential or incremental
If you choose differential or incremental, click on the second radio button to indicate how many partial backups you want before a new full
Click on the auto-cleaning options
Choose your parameter
If you want, go to the advanced tab to choose your validation settings,
Make sure you go back to the Backup Scheme tab before you click on OK to close the backup option windows, or your auto-cleaning settings will not stick
Save your backup settings
See example attached.

I have a new installation of 2013. I have an Old installation of 2012. BOTH are trying to backup a partition of less than 300 gigs to a 2TB drive which has way over 1.5tb free. I get this nasty message every time I try a backup and it is a really BIG pain. If I am not there waiting dfor thje message it jsut times out. If I say ignore it backs up becasue obviously ther is enough space. It is obvious that your test has a defect and it ought to be fixed soon. Especially true in 2013 that I just bought and feeling like I have been scammed.
I TRIED TO CONTACT SUPPORT BUT THERE IS NO SELECTION OF 2013 PRODUCT AND OBVIOUSLY MY 2012 SUPPORT RAN OUT SO NO WAY TO CONTACT SUPPORT.NOT NICE!
Sorry for shouting but I am very frustrated with the product at this point.

Can anyone comment on a fix here? I have ATI Home 2011. I have two Western Digital 6TB disk drives. I keep one offsite and one at home and occasionally swap them. Everything was working just fine until I recently swapped drives. There is definitely plenty of room, but now I am getting this error message. Very frustrating. I ran check for updates and have the latest version.
I thought about upgrading hoping that would fix the issue, but it appears that 2013 has the same problem according to a post above.

Jon,
Would you confirm the disk size you posted as 6 TB.
Version 2011 could be having issues with large capactity disks.
Normally, acroinis ties the backup task to the disk ID of a particular disk so swapping in a new disk can cause issues.
Try setting up an individual task for each disk and see if your problems continue.

Correct - 6TB disks. I created a new backup configuration for this disk (was having other problems trying to just switch to a different drive letter). Is creating a backup configuration/set the same as setting up an individual task? I used a different name as well.
In the meantime I am trying chkdsk / r on that drive.
Here is the model number of the disk. Again, using the same version of the software and the other disk I did not have issues.

Thanks,

Jon,
Would you consider posting a picture of how these disks appear in Windoows Disk Management.
Open Windows Disk Management
Click View, click Top, Click Disk List
Window size should be about 1/2 or 3/4 screen width.
Try sending a private message to the Moderator-Anna
Perhaps she can provide help as to what 2011 can see.

Frankly, I am surprised that any backups worked relative to 6 tb.
When you open TrueImage, the main screen is a listing of individual backup tasks.
Each list is a single specific backup configuration and record of past backups for that task.
Here is a listing of indivdual tasks--maybe 3 or 4 diferent tasks.

I ran chkdsk /r on the drive; I don't see any issues. Report is below. Here is the picture of Windows Disk Management; let me know if you wanted something different. Understood on tasks, and yes I have created a new / separate task for this drive. I ran the backup again today and the same thing happened. I will send a PM to the moderator after I'm done updating here.
Why suprised that any backups work on a 6TB drive? Like I said, they have been working for months on the other unit.
I am going to see what happens if I check the Do Not Show Messages option.
Volume label is WD 6TB Ext HDD #2.

Thank you for the attachment. Note the top part of your attachemt. Note the Device types and Partition style. Both the 3tb disk (Drive S) and the 6tb disks are partitioned as GPT disks but 3 tb does not show the EFI type partiiton. Whether this is normal, I do not know.
Yes, I am surprised that version 2011 had any success with your 6 tb disk. But, that could be due to my no experince with your setup. I am a long time user but not a technician or repair person. Perhaps, they can continue this posting as I can be of no assistance here, or you have a response from Acronis.

I am not a technician either. It would seem to me that if the issue was two disks with some sort of incompatible format that one would see the same problem on both external discs (again, these are identical). Also, the backup can start and go for a couple of hours before failing. Side note: the ignore option did not work.
I guess I will call Acronis support.

In case anyone is still paying attention ... forgot to mention that I have used this drive before back in March; it still contains a full backup file. That was using a different task setup (at that time).

Some good news here ... I purchased the ATI 2014 upgrade, installed it, and ran into the same issue. Called tech support, yes paid the fee, and the guy asks if I uninstalled 2011 prior. No, I did not. I commented most modern software programs when it comes to an upgrade either 1) can have different versions co-exist, 2) do a good job of overwriting past installations as necessary during upgrade installation, or 3) if a prior version uninstall is required, either inform the user and remove during the install, or at least tell the user to do so. Anyway, that is my opinion.
So after uninstalling everything, running the Acronis cleanup utility, and re-installing 2014 I was able to get through a backup without this error. I will report back in a few weeks if everything goes smoothly with further incremental backups.
