auto backups

Thread solved

I was under the impression that Acronis would back up on a pre-determined schedule automatically, bring the computer out of sleep/hibernation mode automatically.

Doesn't seem to. How do I get auto scheduled backup's to run?

Gary, there are several factors that can be involved in getting your backups to wake up the computer and run automatically.

First, you need to set the corresponding Scheduler settings in the Advanced section to do so.

Next, you need to have enabled wake timers in the power settings for the PC, which may involve BIOS settings for some makes.  Look in the power options to see if wake timers are shown or not?

Apart from inhibiting the sleep function I could not see any power settings that would awake the computer at the scheduled backup time.

I set up a task schedule to start Acronis that coincides with the backup schedule to see if that works.

Gary, that looks like it is tied in with the wake timers, so if they are disabled the option is not / cannot be offered.

See webpage: How to Enable or Disable to Allow Wake Timers in Windows 10 - for three different options on doing this.

Thanks Steve

One one laptop I was able to get the 'wake' option to be available by working through the power settings (1st option from the link you sent), on the other laptop I had to enable via cmd prompt and the pertinent command string.

Gary

Glad to read of success Gary - thanks for the feedback.
