User Logon with password

Thread needs solution

Does Acronis logon to windows if you are not at the station and a Back-up is scheduled? How does this work? How can you make sure your Back-up runs when you are not at the system and you have a password protection?

Unless you posted to the wrong forum, you specified the user and password (or generated the two) for the Managed Machine service to run.

I don't understand your answer; if you leave your computer and the screen saver turns on Windows locks you out of the UI; therefor does Acronis need to log in to start a backup that is scheduled or will it run regardless?

Iceking007,

So long as you haven't altered the default logons used by Acronis services, TIH and ABR will run whether you are logged on or not. This is one of two reasons why tasks require your user log on and why the services get a high level of logon authority.

dev-anon was unsure if you were referring to the corporate products or the Home versions which have different ways of implementing the same function.

Oh ok, sorry no I am using Home products but I don't remember entering user logon info or assigning security or priority levels; where are those options?

Thank you........

P.S. as a side note is there some way to FORCE backups to occure; like literally this gets me so frustrated I have been using these softwares for a year now and: NEVER; NOT EVEN ONE TIME have I been able to walk away from the screen and see a successful back up take place

It always fails and I always get a screen reading either one of these:

> location full bla bla can't fix the problem without a baby sitter (I need an adult!)
> Queued .... Queued .... Queued oh sorry did you actually want me to back this up?
> Backing up, calculating time remaining..... er infinate.... better make some coffee!
> Backing up......... error occured because I like you so much

It seems I'm destined to sit in front of the screen and watch every agonizing hour of backup

so I only do it ever 3-6 months on all my systems if you could imagine sorry to complain like I say it's just frustrating!

It just always seems like you need 5x's the space (backing up 1gb well you need 5gb's 100 well you need 500 )

Iceking,

First an apology, you no longer have to enter a password when making a task, I was in a time warp when I typed that. As far as the priority and security levels are concerned, you can't alter those these are an internal part of the service that runs True Image and ABR for that matter. They allocate themselves a certain Windows Secuirty level that allows the product to run even if you are not logged in.

Have you stopped any of the Acronis Services such as Acronis Scheduler2 or Scheduler helper? Stopping or setting these to manual will prevent True Image working correctly. Check that the services are running and are set to automatic, and check in sys config that they are ticked under the startup tab.

More detail is needed about the location full problem - is this an internal hard drive, external USB/Firewire, NAS etc?

What file format are you using?

What type of image or backup method are you using?

How do you have the task parameters set up?

Have you double checked that you haven't selected sector by sector backup or that TIH hasn't used this method because it has found a disk integrity problem?

What compression level have you selected? Using the default compression level your image should be around 70% of the used disk space certainly not more than the original disk size of used space.
