Recovery Media

Thread needs solution

Can someone please explain how these differ?

  1. Acronis Universal Restore
  2. Rescue Media Builder
  3. Acronis Survival Kit

I tried to use #3 but it got the feeling it was about to modify my 5TB drive instead of my 8G Cruz drive. I was not given an option on where to install. Does it make the entire drive bootable and create a system backup on the same drive?

Thanks

Chris, AUR is only required when migrating a backup from an existing PC OS to a new PC which has different hardware such as the motherboard, CPU, adapters etc.

The Rescue Media Builder tool is intended to work with your 8GB Cruz USB stick or similar media or optical media (CD / DVD).

The Survival Kit works with external USB HDD's such as your 5TB drive where it will normally want to create a 2GB FAT32 partition at the beginning of the drive to use to boot from into the Acronis Rescue Media WinPE environment, leaving the rest of the drive available for storage of backups etc.  This will not work with your 8GB Cruz USB stick or other USB media unless is of a sufficiently large size, i.e. I have used it with a 128GB Samsung USB stick though the performance was not very good!
