Backup ignores owncloud synced local folders

Thread solved

When I select folders for file backup that are local copies of data that is synced from owncloud, these local folders are just ignored without any message. The backup completes, but the folders are missing. No hint, no error, just ignored.

Is there any way to get Trueimage 2021 backup such folders?

(I remember that there was a topic with virtual folders from one drive that are automatically excluded, but my folders are not virtual but real.)

Bernd, welcome to these public User Forums.

I haven't heard of owncloud prior to your topic so have no direct experience of how Acronis may interact with it.

If there is an owncloud application which checks for any changes etc to the files / folders which are synced to that cloud service, then I would suspect that that application would hold locks that might prevent Acronis from locking the files etc to back them up.

The logs for your backup task should shed more information on what is actually happening here?

Download a copy of the MVP Assistant log viewer tool and use this to look at the logs to see if they show any issues during the operation process?

The latest version of the new log viewer tool is at the link below.
MVP Assistant update for Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office (Version 1.1.6.0)

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant.

The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.

Hi Steve,

thanks for the tool, which did not lead to any issues registered in the logfiles during the operation process.

So I checked other settings and found that "ignore system files" was the reason, these user files where ignored.

Don't know why. It used to work, but some update on either the side of trueimage or the owncloud client or even windows must be responsible for the new behavior.

I see that ownCloud has what they term Federated Cloud Sharing that provides a secure (username/password) method of sharing.  This may work for your purpose.
