tib files cannot be mounted, because context menu is missing, ATI 2017

Thread solved

Hello, one of my computers is missing the context menu to mount *.tib files. I have already uninstalled everything according to instructions, run the CleanupTool and followed all instructions from "https://forum.acronis.com/forum/acronis-true-image-2017-forum/how-unins…".

But always the same result. The context menu "Acronis True Image" and the two other subcontext menus "Mount" and "Validate" are missing!

The attached image is from another PC on which everything works.

I would be very happy if someone could help here.

Thank you very much. Peter

Peter, welcome to these public User Forums.

The Acronis context menu entries comes from its integration with the Windows shell, so if you have already done a full uninstall / reinstall, that should have resolved any such integration issues.

Some key comments:

All Acronis installations needs to be performed as Administrator (as documented in the user guide) in order to have all required authority / privileges.

Acronis should be whitelisted to any installed antivirus / security applications that might prevent correct operation.

See the following KB documents related to this aspect:

KB 36429: Acronis Software: exclude program folders and executables from antivirus and other security programs

KB 46430: Acronis Software: Making Acronis Products Compatible with Antivirus Software

Hello Steve, thank you very much for your help.
I have now uninstalled everything for the umpteenth time, run the cleanup tool as administrator, added your recommended entries to the white list in the virus scanner. Installed Acronis True Image again as administrator.
However, the context menu, as in the picture of my 1st mail, is still missing.
Is there any other advice?
Many thanks and greetings
Peter

Peter, are you using Windows Explorer here or using a different program?  The Acronis shell integration only works with Explorer to my knowledge.

Peter, a further thought / question: do you have any security software installed that would prevent changes to the Windows Registry files?

See KB 2294: Disabling Windows Shell Extensions of Acronis True Image - which while written back in 2011 is still relevant for up to ATI 2021 at least (checked my own registry has the values indicated for 64-bit OS).

Installing ATI or doing a Repair Install of ATI would normally create those registry entries.

See also forum topic: Remove ATI from file context menu - where another registry entry is listed for the folder context.

Steve I works with the file manager I use, Directory Opus. Probably due to its integration with Explorer.

Hi Steve, thanks again for your help. Unfortunately, these tips did not help either. I do not use any additional security software. Only the standard Windows 10 software (Defender etc.) I also work with the original Windows Explorer. I also compared the registry entries of KB 2294 for 64-bit systems. The first 3 entries are present. The entries 5 and 6 are not present. I compared these entries with another PC that has the same Acronis version installed. The entries 5 and 6 are missing here as well. But still the context menu is visible here.  So the error must be in another place. Only where??
In other software you can switch the context menus on and off in the settings. This works perfectly. However, such a setting option is missing in Acronis True Image. Is the installation of ATI really such a witchcraft? Am I really the only person who has this error?
I would be very grateful for any further help.

Thanks and best regards
Peter

Peter, I am running short on ideas here for why this is an issue on just one of your computers!

Try downloading / using the Nirsoft ShellExView tool to confirm that the required shell extensions are correctly in place.

Note: I needed to sort the output results by the Program name (path) column to identify the Acronis entries on my own system with ATI 2021, plus there were a mix of both 64-bit and 32-bit entries.  See the attached text output files, first for 32-bit, second for 64-bit.

Hi Steve, thanks again. I've been using the shellexview program for a while now, and have looked for Acronis entries in it. However, I was not aware that some entries are responsible for Acronis, although this is not visible at first glance. Only when I searched for Acronis in shellexview with the search function I found it. There were 4 entries in the column "Disabled" marked with "Yes". I set these 4 entries to "No". (see attachment). The PC was restarted. And what can I say........the context menu is back. :-) :-) :-)
So it was absolutely worthwhile to turn to this forum to see these problems from another point of view. Steve, thanks again for the great help and many greetings from Bavaria.

Peter, glad that you were able to find the disabled shell context entries and resolve this issue!

Hope life is treating you well in Bavaria, we have enjoyed travelling through the area when driving from Munich to Salzburg on the way to Schladming for holidays a few years back (after flying to Munich from the UK).

Hello Steve, are you English or American?
In any case - should you ever come to Munich again, let me know in time. I would like to invite you to a "Maß Bier" at the Hofbräuhaus. I just have to know in time, because I live about 100 km away from Munich.
The communication could also take place here?
Thank you again and also to you a good time.
Greetings Peter
