Creating new hidden partition via Acronis

Thread solved

Hello,

I would like to ask, if its possible create hidden partition via acronis (if yes, how?) what will be visible only from F11 mode (before start windows).

This hidden partition cannot be visibly from windows like another hard drive.

Reason why I want this thing is that, if I will get a virus what will encript all data what windows will see I will have  secure backup in hidden partition what I can restore from F11 mode before start windows.

Thanks for answer & help.

Marek, welcome to these public User Forums.

With Acronis you can create an Acronis Secure Zone which is a modified FAT32 partition to be used for storage of backup image files where this can be accessed from within the Acronis application both in Windows and when booted from rescue media or using F11 for the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager feature.

Any partition present on the system could be a potential target for any malware attack regardless of whether it is visible or not, the most secure option is to use an external storage drive and keep this disconnected when not in use, i.e. in a bank vault, safe etc.  It is always best to use a 3-2-1 backup strategy, i.e. have at least 3 different backups, stored using at least 2 different storage media with at least 1 backup stored offline or in a remote location.

Hello Steve,

Thanks for your answer. Yes I understand but 5 years ago my uncle got a virus what started encrypt all his data and he lost all data what had backuped on 2 places with 2 option backups.

Thanks Acronis and his hidden partition he lost just one week work, what was great. I think, he had version of acronis from 2012 year.

Is still this option to create hiden partition? I need to set this metode to my friend who working as accountant and she has very important data.

If I understood well, secure zone is just some folder or disk what I can see in windows and if I can see this secure zone, I can write to it anytime, so virus can write to secure zone too, or not?

thanks
Marek

Marek, the ASZ is a separate FAT32 partition that cannot be accessed directly in Windows via such as Explorer etc and has been available in all versions of Acronis True Image.

See the ATI 2021 User Guide section on the Acronis Secure Zone for more information.
