Old images do not boot up any more

Thread needs solution

I am using Acronis 2015, 2017, 2019 and now 2021, to copy complete installed machine images including operating system, on new machine pc's.

The last two weeks the restored images do not boot any more, although pointed in bios boot menu to the correct drive.

The backups are unchanged, the hardware is unchanged.

To test I purchased the last 2021 version of ATI

This did not solve the problem. In the past old images are re-usable with newer version.

The only way to get a working SSD is a herd copied clone with a separate clone device.

All images are Windows 10 Build 1607 and Build 1809, The medium is a ATI linux based rescue bootable stick.

If I am the only user with this problem, I better switch to another imaging software?

Jos, welcome to these public User Forums.

Just from the information provided in your post above, the most likely reason for some issues here is using the Linux based rescue media as this is known to have various limitations.

KB 58006: Acronis software: NVMe drives in RAID mode are not detected by Linux-based bootable media and Acronis startup recovery manager

KB 46250: Acronis Linux-based Bootable Media: Troubleshooting USB HID Devices Detection Issues

KB 45330: Acronis Bootable Media Does Not Detect HDD, RAID or NIC

KB 45331: Acronis Bootable Media(Linux-based): Troubleshooting NIC Detection

KB 59947: Acronis True Image Linux-based bootable media boots into black screen after selecting any option in the option menu

When either restoring or cloning a drive, Acronis will make changes based on any changes in hardware found in the target system, which can also cause issues.

Given that you can use hardware disk cloner / copier and all works well, then this suggests that Windows is able to handle any hardware changes during the boot process on new hardware.
