Cyber Protect Home Office - Trial Version - Backup Microsoft 365

Thread solved

Hi there,

I have just downloaded the Cyber Protect Home Office trial to test it out.

I want to test the Microsoft Office backup so that I can protect my personal Microsoft Emails and OneDrive files.

I don't seem to be able to find the options to use this feature. Is this because it is not part of the trial version?

How would it work if I want to back up my families Microsoft Office, could I have up to 5 accounts backed up or does it just work for 1 account?

Does it just work for personal accounts or does it work for Microsoft business accounts too?

Thanks very much,

Sam

Sam, welcome to these public User Forums.

Please see KB 62069: Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office, Acronis True Image: how to back up Microsoft 365 accounts - which should help answer most of your questions.

As far as I understand, only one Microsoft 365 account can be backed up (I see no mention of being able to enter the credentials for more than one!).

Business accounts are not supported per the above KB.

Steve, some years back it was confirmed (I think by Ekaterina) that multiple Microsoft Accounts can be backed-up.

Ian, would need someone who actually uses the MS 365 backup option to confirm the rules for us.  I don't have / use MS 365 because it is another subscription service that I don't need!

Hi Steve, Hi Ian, thanks for your posts.

It was very helpful to read the knowledgebase article. It helped me diagnose further. I think the issue I had was because I signed up with my work email which is not a personal outlook.com email address. I then setup a new account and logged into a trial as my personal email address and bingo the option to back up Microsoft 365 personal cloud has appeared and I am currently running a backup to test it.

The next thing I can try to do is backup multiple Microsoft personal accounts so I will keep you posted on that.

However another question I have is what if a user has signed up to a Microsoft account as a gmail address which is something I think you can do, have a Microsoft account with other email addresses than outlook.com. Will this still backup and work correctly. It seems like the gmail account has access to OneDrive so I think it will work. I will try and test this and let you know.

Thanks Sam

Sam when I initially created my backup the Microsoft account used a Gmail email address and backup worked without problems.

Hi Ian and Steve,

I can confirm the Outlook personal account backed up okay.

I have liaised with Acronis support and yes you can backup multiple personal Microsoft 365 accounts depending how many PC's your licence allows (up to 5).

Also yes you can backup a Microsoft personal account that uses a different email address than a Microsoft one.

A Microsoft business account does require an Acronis business licence.

Thanks Sam
