TIH 2011 Update

Thread needs solution

I have had an email from Acronis support saying that they are still discussing what to fix in TIH 2011. I think everything should work perfectly, as far as is possible, when the product goes on sale. It has now been on sale for a year and still has innumerable problems. Frankly, under British consumer protection legislation (and I expect others), it should be withdrawn from sale because it does not fulfil the purpose for which is was designed and sold.

Unless Acronis stops discussing what to do, and actually does what it is supposed to do, the company will loose its viable market share and go bust. Interminable waits and bad fixes that make things worse are not acceptable. It was once a really good product which has been systematically ruined by incompetent programming and greedy marketing.

My hope is that they will go back to an earlier version, 2009 or 2010, add only what is necessary for WIN7 compatibility, and release that. Then the "new and improved" interface and features can be developed. Past versions have proved to be bulletproof as far as restoring images. Even if it works most of the time, the number of people who have reported unbootable restores renders it effectively useless for catastrophic failure backup, since you won't know until it is too late whether it works.
