Backing Up a Remote Drive

Thread needs solution

Windows 7

Acronis True Image Home 2015 18.0.0 .6613

My wife's PC (Windows XP) and mine are networked in a LAN through a Netgear router.  From my PC, I can "see" all of her hard drive.  Her hard drive is 500 GB.  I have two physical hard drives with one having over 600 GB free.

Is there a way for me to use my version of Acronis True Image Home from my PC to create a backup of her complete hard drive?

David, you can only make a Files & Folders type backup of a remote drive, not a Disks & Partitions type one.  This means that any files locked by the XP OS will not be captured etc!

What you could do is to create the ATI 2015 bootable rescue media and try booting the XP PC using that media to create a disk backup outside of the OS.

See KB 48338: Acronis True Image 2015: Creating Acronis Bootable Media for guidance.
