Invalid archive

Thread needs solution

I am using Acronix XI on a Win XP Pro PC. Have just replaced hard disk and done a clean install of OS and software. Create a new full backup using default options. Verify that the backup is correct. Using Acronis Linux startup disk to test backup get error message: Not a valid Acronis backup .tib file. Yet the file shows in the menu on the external hard drive, and is listed as a *.tib. Have done a second backup with new file name-get verification OK and have same result with install disk. Any ideas on what I am doing incorrectly? Sailfan

Hi Ronald,

By "verify that the backup is correct" did you mean that you validated the backup? My reason for asking is that I had a similar issue and I later found out that all of my current backups were all invalid. I had to reinstall True Image Home 2010. Then I was able to create and validate a backup which I was able to restore from within ATI or from the bootable media.

If your Windows version of TI will validate the archive and the TI boot CD won't then you likely have an incompatibility with the environment on the boot CD which is Linux. If you have used the same TI boot CD before to validate or restore an archive then something else is likely wrong if the hardware has remained the same.
