Missing Notification eMails

Thread needs solution

I have ATI 2021 Build 39287 running on 2 Windows PCs. One is Windows 11 the other Windows 7. I have a total of 5 daily backup jobs. Each one is set up to send me an eMail when they complete. This has worked fine for months but recently a problem has developed.

I never get the notification eMail from 2 of the backup jobs -- one on each system. When I check the log, they have competed successfully. If I open ATI and go to Options>Notification and click Send Test message, it arrives.

Is there some log I can check to see if the message was sent or got lost?

There have been known issues for the global notifications, i.e. those coming via the Acronis online dashboard - which for some users, myself included, appear to have been resolved over the past several days (with duplicate notifications coming as backlog was cleared!).

If you are using the in app Email Notification option, then this is down to the email servers that are being used.  It is sometimes possible to look in the outbox or sent mail folders on the server to see if they show any signs of the missing mail.  All my own email notifications from multiple systems running different versions of Acronis have all been working just fine & reliably.

These messages are supposed to be sent to my Gmail address.  But I use my Comcast email address for smtp authentication.  When I look at my Comcast Sent folder, there is nothing there -- not the messages that made it to gmail, the tests, or the ones I never received .  I don't think  Comcast is going to let me poke around their smtp server so I guess I will just chalk this up as another case of "sometimes it works,  sometimes it doesn't"

Thanks for your help

Update:  I opened the 2 offending jobs and made a trivial change to the options. Specifically, I added a minute to the start time.  And now I get the notifications.  Go figure.

I believe Google (gmail) no longer allows 'Allow less secure apps: ON' so there seems to be no way to send notifications from True Image 2020 via gmail.  Does anybody have a workaround?  Thanks.

Jon, welcome to these public User Forums.

The workaround is to find another email provider to use.  I switched from using gmail more than a year back to using mail.co.uk with port 587 for StartTLS / TLS and their SMTP server.

Jon, the mail.co.uk server that I use is free for non-commercial use, so I would expect similar services to be available in other countries.
