TIHome 2009: Event log full of errors

Thread needs solution

Windows XP Pro SP3
TI Home 2009 Build 9796

The Application Event log is full of errors like this:

Scheduler is unable to run task with GUID 'C73DF26C-DA36-4B34-A03E-033834498780' because of error 2 (Failed to find the file (folder) or the key (value) in the registry.).

They come EVERY MINUTE, sometimes with multiple entries in a single minute with different GUIDs. The scheduled nightly backup seems to run OK.

What's this about?

These errors appear to have been caused by my uninstalling "Drive Monitor."

On a hunch, I re-installed Drive Monitor and the errors went away.

I don't need Drive Monitor on this PC; how can I uninstall it and get rid of the errors in the Application Event Log?

Hello Bert!

Thank you for finding time to open the thread regarding this issue, I will be glad to help.

The error you receive can be safely ignored, as it is created by the deleted task which traces were left in the registry. You can resolve the issue in the following way:

  1. Remove the Drive Monitor if you don't needed it
  2. Download Acronis Scheduler Manager. Open command prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd); run schedmgr.exe and issue the following command:
    get list
It will provide you with the list of tasks you have
  3. Find the one you need to delete and enter the following command:
    task [task_number]
This will get you to this task menu
  4. As soon as you are in the task menu, enter
    Delete
and the task will be removed

This should solve the problem. If it remains, please gather Acronis Info, submit a case with the information attached, and let us know it's number.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!
