Acronis True Image 2021 sees drives in RAID 0 as 2 independent drives

Thread solved

Hello,

I am trying to take PC image using Acronis TI recorded on USB stick.

During boot up, I see 2 errors:

BBM entries detected!

RAID set "isw_jdc jhefcc" can't be activated

When started, it displays 2 separate drives to backup.

Will someone please advise what the issue is?

Oleg, welcome to these public User Forums.

If your rescue media is not seeing your RAID array as a single drive then either your RAID is implemented in Software not Hardware, or you are missing RAID drivers from your rescue media.

The first check point is to confirm which type of Acronis rescue media you are using here?

For the ATI 2018 & later version rescue media, there are 3 different versions available:
Simple:  created based on your Windows Recovery Environment for WinPE media.
Advanced: created based on Windows ADK (or AIK for earlier OS versions) - WinPE media.
Advanced: created based on a small Linux distro OS (BusyBox) or created from the .ISO CD image download from your Acronis Account page.

Linux media does not have support for RAID or BitLocker encryption, so if you are using this type you need to create the alternative Windows PE / RE media, ideally the 'simple' media is recommended to be used as will use files from your Windows Recovery Environment.

Steve,

thank you for your response.

I am using linux based rescue media:

Following your response I tried to create Windows based USB media (the only option I have is shown below), but Acronis True Image would not boot with this one.

I will appreciate any further assistance.

Kind regards,

Oleg

Oleg, you will probably need to inject the correct RAID device drivers / support into the Acronis WinPE rescue media, so the first challenge is to identify who the RAID provider is?

Steve,

It is Intel software RAID (motherboard ASMB-785).

I created Windows RE based media, as all other options were grayed and not available. With this one, I was not even able to stat Acronis software. With Linux based, I was able to start it, but Acronis TI sees 2 RAID drives as independent disks.

Have you tried adding the Intel RAID driver that comes on the DVD for the motherboard?

The driver is in the DVD "06_Intel RAID_AHCI” folder. You may go to the directory of
the DVD and follow Intel's installation guide to install the driver and utility.
Note! For the detailed installation instructions for the SATA RAID driver and
utility, please check the User Guide in the driver CD. Path: folder "Intel
Rapid Storage Technology" in "06_Intel RAID_AHCI".

There can be different variations in the Intel RST driver depending on whether VMD is being used or not?

I have not - not sure how I add this to the USB created using Acronis Bootable Media Builder...

You need to select the Advanced option in the media builder, then WinPE based media.  Next, select to build the media using Windows Recovery Environment which will then present you with a panel with the option to Add a folder containing the additional device driver for your RAID controller.

Where can I select the Advanced option? Cannot find it in the software.

Also here I have no options to chose from, and if I choose Windows PE (not 64), there is no options at all.

Oleg, assuming that you have ATI 2021 installed on your computer, then in the main GUI open the Tools page, then select the Rescue Media Builder as shown below:

Oleg,

The screenshots you post appear to be a different product than Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office.  In fact I think they are taken from the Cyber Protect 15 products Bootable Media Builder.

If I am correct then I would suggest that you contact Acronis support with this issue.  In my testing of the Cyber Protect 15 product some months ago I found that the bootable media builder did not support current Windows ADK versions so if you have in fact upgraded your Windows install recently it is possible that your WinRE is incompatible with the media builder.  Having said that it is possible to add drivers to that media as Steve suggest but the screen to do so look different than what Steve posted.

Hi all,

The issue was that I was trying to build USB via Acronis Universal Restore instead of Rescue Media Builder.

Steve,

Very much appreciate your detailed guidance and screenshots. I now created USB via Rescue Media Builder in Simple mode and was able to create PC image: it detected disks in RAID 1 as 1 disk.

The only thing that surprised me, that collection of that image took much longer than it was with Acronis TI 2014, but this is different story.

Thank you for your support.

Regards,

Oleg
