Full Backup

Thread needs solution

Hello, I have 2 questions -

1.  I would like to schedule monthly full backups so when restoring, I can go back 1 month and apply the incrementals.  Is there a way to do this?

2.  When deleting old backups, I am not sure how to remove since I have the initial full back up (2 years old) and all the incrementals.  What can I delete so if I have to restore, I will have all the data?

Thanks for your help.

Hello Jackie!

Don't know if your questions are still relevant, but anyway:

1. You can configure a separate schedule for full, differential and incrementals, so you can have a monthly full with however frequent incrementals you need.

2. If you use the UI (as is recommended) to delete backups, you won't be able to delete backups that have dependant backups.

You can also configure retention so you don't have to do this manually. It's also faster to do even for one-off operations (execute a cleanup plan without setting a schedule). This will also take into account dependent backups. i.e. When a backup in the middle of the month should be deleted, it will only be marked as deleted and will be removed for sure when the full it depends on also should be removed.
