Had to replace SSD - True Image Recovery fails

Thread solved

Because my fan broke down and of an absolutely hilarious (FLAWED) design of the Dell XPS 13 7390 I had to have my whole motherboard with soldered on SSD and RAM) replaced.
I have been doing monthly full backups so I thought at least I will be able to restore my laptop easily.
Man was I wrong.
No matter what I do there is no freaking way that the backup RESTORE will get any further than "Preparing"  when running "Recover PC".
Found some KB infos regarding "Prerequsites" which mention I need to have the exact same logical partitions in place - but honestly who would write those down up front? If not mentioned somewhere as a VERY important detail, since I know approx how big my two partitions were ie about 800 to 780 and 200 to 220 GB (adding up to little below 1TB) but def not to KB level! Could this be a reason for failure don' know?

What's even more when it then fails and basically just restarts and I open my Acronis TI 2018 it even tells me that Recovery succeeded without a single thing having been recovered.
Could this tool be useless in this type of use cases? Being only useable to recover in place on the same discs?

W D, welcome to these public User Forums.

How exactly are you trying to perform this recovery to the repaired Dell system?

The recommended method here would be to boot the laptop from Acronis bootable rescue media (created using the 'Simple' method to produce WinPE media from the Windows Recovery environment that includes device drivers from your system).

If you are attempting the recovery from within Windows after reinstalling the OS and ATI 2018, then this will use a basic, limited Linux based environment for recovery which most likely has no support for your internal SSD etc.

When doing the restore of your backup, this needs to be done as a Disk & Partition restore and at the top Disk selection level.

Please see forum topic: [How to] recover an entire disk backup - and in particular the attached PDF document which shows a step-by-step tutorial for doing this type of recovery / restore.

Awesome - making a Acronis Recovery USB Stick, tweaking the Boot order in BIOS according to those articles above and using it together with the backup on external SSD did. the trick.
Awesome - thanks a lot.
