Acronis 2021 cannot successfully back up from WD internal SSD to identical brand and size SDD on external sata device

Thread needs solution

I got the shock of my life when I tried to run Acronis 2021 to run a full backup of my internal 1 TB SSD (about 600GB data).  It ran almost 4 hours before starting validation, and chucked the backup into dozens of files as shown below.  THEN the verification failed.  I tried it a second time with similar results. The destination SSD is standard and has been tested on a clone and many other transfer tasks.

I've been running Acronis for about 9 years, and it has always been a little dicey from time to time and always pretty daggone slow. If it can't run file backups onto SSDs, I'm going to have to abandon it permanently.

Any clues as to what might be wrong?

Pamela, sorry but more questions than answers at this time!

You have ATI 2021 and are doing a full disk backup from your internal SSD yet your screen image shows the backup task creating .TIB files instead of creating .TIBX files as is expected with ATI 2020 onwards for disk backups?

The image also shows the .TIB Full backup files being split into additional sections as indicated by the incrementing name suffix _v1 through _v29 which would normally only be seen if either the Advanced options are changed to change the maximum output file size (unlikely given the range of different file sizes shown!), or where the task has experience some form of interruption in either the connection to the destination drive or an error situation causing a retry.

The log file for the backup task should give more detailed information on what has been happening here?

Download a copy of the MVP Assistant log viewer tool and use this to look at the logs to see if they show any issues during the operation process?

The latest version of the new log viewer tool is at the link below.
MVP Assistant - New 2.0 with Rescue Media Builder (Version 2.0.1)

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant.

The Schedule2 log contains information related to scheduled task but is one of the more difficult logs to read / work through.

The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.

In addition to the log files, I would recommend checking both the source and destination drives with any diagnostic utilities provided by the drive maker, plus also check the connections, i.e. unplug & replug cables, check power connections etc.
