Authentication issues with Server 2008 RC2 domain.

Thread needs solution

Hi all,

I've just had to put a new server in because our old one was un-reliable. The server O/S had to be Server 2008 RC2 because I couldn't find any 2003 servers anymore (Microsoft finished with this O/S??). All this server does is share an iSCSI drive array over the network as a normal windows share and this is where we point all our backups to go to. The share and permissions are setup correctly.

I'm trying to re-configure all our servers agents to backup to this drive. Some of our server are not on the domain and some are on a different domain. When I try to re-configure one of the servers that is not on the domain I get the expected user/password prompt. When I put the username & password in the first time it works and allows me to setup the task, however when I run the task to test it it says Login failure. Also I noticed that cloning a working task doesn't work either and comes up with the same Login failure message. It's almost like the user account can only be used once within a certain amount of time. Anybody have any ideas?

Dave.

There must be some sort of authentication in addition to the passwords entered into the backup tasks. I had some success by completely deleting all the tasks I had and creating new ones...

Hello Dave,

Thank you for posting. I will certainly help you with this issue.

In order to resolve it I would really appreciate if you could get back to me with the screenshot of the error as well as the AcronisInfo report. We will have a better picture of the problem.

Could you also elaborate on what you mean by cloning a task?

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you.
