Unable to restore from backup Acronis true Image for western digital

Thread needs solution

Hello everyone,

Whenever I try to restore PC from my back up using Acronis true image for Western Digital,
the following warning window pops up after the PC is restarting. When I type the error code into Acronis error search catalog, there are no results founds

I'm on Windows 10 pro and already have reached out to WD and microsoft supports, but they claimed that the issue comes from Acronis, which I'm unable to reach their technical support because it requires a license key to do so... and this one wasn't communicated to me when I've installed Acronis on my computer through WD device and website.

By any chance, anyone has an idea what the issue might be? or if not, a way to get in touch with Acronis tech support please?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Dear Guillaume Berrut,
Support for the Acronis OEM  software is handled through the company whose product contained the Acronis OEM software, as they are best equipped to understand the specific OEM application as well as the relationship between the Acronis software and their product. Acronis works closely with the OEM on investigating and solving issues that arise. You can learn more here: Support for OEM Versions of Acronis Products | Knowledge Base

Please check if bitlocker is turned on on the disk. If yes, try to turn it off.

Guillaume, welcome to these public User Forums.

Whenever I try to restore PC from my back up using Acronis true image for Western Digital,
the following warning window pops up after the PC is restarting.

Your statement above suggests that you are attempting to do the restore from within Windows which then requires your PC to be restarted.  That restart is into a temporary Linux based environment which has a number of known limitations!

I would strongly recommend creating the 'Simple' version of the Acronis bootable rescue media which uses the Windows Recovery Environment for device driver support in WinPE media.

Test booting your PC from that rescue media using the same BIOS boot mode as Windows and hopefully all will be working correctly, though if you have BitLocker enabled, you will need to use the Manage-bde command to unlock this before you will be able to see the encrypted drives in the Acronis application.

See KB 65508: Acronis True Image 2021: how to create bootable media and KB 59877: Acronis True Image: how to distinguish between UEFI and Legacy BIOS boot modes of Acronis Bootable Media
