Bootable recovery disk with added driver will not boot
Hi all,
Using the latest version of Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office, I used Media Builder | Advanced creation method | | 64-bit | Toolkit: Windows Recovery Environment.
I added the Intel RST driver: 
The source folder of the driver includes iaStorAfs.sys, amongst other files.
When I attempt to boot the resulting WinPE I get this error:
Recovery
Your PC/Device needs to be repaired
The operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors.
File: iaStorAfs.sys Error code: 0xc0000098
So to conclude, iaStorAfs.sys is in the source driver folder, but the boot error says it is missing or contains errors.

Leigh, first I would suggest trying the new Rescue Media feature of the MVP Assistant tool for creating your media.

As Steve suggests use the MVP Assistant - New 2.0 with Rescue Media Builder (new Version 2.1.1) to build WinPE media and add the iaStorVD.inf driver file. This will allow you to boot your PC and access your disk drive.
The problem with the Acronis builder tool is that it does not install all of the necessary files found in the iaStorVD.inf install file. The MVP Assistant handles this properly.

I am up and running with MVP Assistant, and have burned a USB drive that boots happily.
I'm very impressed with all the Applications that I have added.
But I'm stuck trying to add drivers.
The only active sub-menu on the Driver menu is Include inbox drivers. The other 4 sub-menu items are inactive.
Am I missing something?

Leigh, the key requirement are to have created a new project, selected the source for the wim file and mounted the image, then all the driver options should be accessible.
The next action should be to run the 'Analyze' option, then select any further options.

I can now run Drivers | Analyze and Drivers | Add driver folder.
Both choices crash with an Unhandled Exception.
I've attached the Exception text for both cases - the only difference between the 2 files is the menu choice - MVPAssistant.FormRescueBuilder.Menu_DriversAnalyze_Click vs. MVPAssistant.FormRescueBuilder.Menu_DriversAddFolder_Click.
Is it worth trying another PC?

As the programmer of the MVP Assistant, it is up to me to look into the exception issue. It's late today and I just saw this so I'll look into it tomorrow.
If you are adding a driver from the online system, you would not use the Add Driver folder menu command. That is used for a driver not installed on your system.
My first recommendation is to read through the Help about drivers. If might help to understand the process of getting drivers into the image.
Please let me know what folder you are selecting and why you chose that folder. If need be, you can send me a message back channel to help figure it out.

The background to my project is that I have a 2-year old laptop (call it the source) and a new laptop (the target).
I have generated a WinPE USB using MVP Assistant - it boots happily on the target, but no sign of the SSD.
For Disaster Recovery, I need a WinPE USB that will boot on the target and recognize its SSD.
I am running MVP Assistant on the source laptop.
The target laptop uses :

That driver had to be loaded to do a clean install of Windows 10.
That's the driver that I am trying to add via the Add Driver folder menu command.

Do you mean general Help about Windows drivers, or more specific help about adding drivers via MVP Assist?

Hi Leigh,
It looks like something in the online devices is causing the exception. Running the MVP Assistant on a different PC may make a difference.
As a start, it might be worth running the following Powershell command and letting me know the results:
Get-WmiObject win32_PnpSignedDriver
I suspect some piece of info about a device is not there where I expect it.

I have looked at your driver txt output you posted. In my look I do not see any reference to the VMD driver (iaStorVD.inf) driver file necessary for you to get things working.
I note that I think you say you are creating the media on the source laptop meaning your old laptop. The driver file you need will only be found on your target (new) laptop. This suggests that you must create the media on the target PC so that you can add the required driver.
You must also have the Cyber Protect Home Office product installed on the target machine as our MVP Assistant tool depends on that to add that app into the media.
Leigh, two questions...
1. When the exception occurs, is there a Continue button to continue the program?
2. In the media builder, select Tools>Driver Analyzer. I suspect the same exception should occur when you start the program, but would like a verification.

I have moved my efforts to the target (new) laptop.
So the following comments relate to running MVP Assistant on the target (new) laptop.
By way of background, the new laptop is a top-of-the-range, current model, HP Spectre x360 14 Convertible PC 14-ea0000 with I7, 16GB RAM, 2TB SSD.
With MVP Assistant, I've built a USB drive without using any Driver options.
It boots happily - but does not see the SSD.
I have tried both the Driver Analyze and Add Driver folder menu commands, but both crash.
I have attached the Exception text for both cases.
Also, the output from Get-WmiObject win32_PnpSignedDriver.
I've tried clicking Continue on the error dialog, but that doesn't appear to go any further.

There's no reference to iaStorVD.inf in the output from Get-WmiObject win32_PnpSignedDriver.
But I can see that driver in Device Manager.
Also I can see it in C:/Windows/System32/DriverStore/FileRepository:

Working back channel, I was able to figure out Leigh's issues. The next posted version of the MVP Assistant will have a fix for the exception. It appears Leigh was able to do a successful build with the required driver.
