Downgrade to True Image 2020 version number

Thread solved

I currently have a license for Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office, which I do not like at all for lots of reasons, the primary one being that it includes so much stuff that I do not want or need.

I've was satisfied using all versions through 2020 and was shocked when I discovered that the user cannot disable features in CPHO.

I'd like to uninstall CPHO ( aka 2021) and return to 2020, but I'm unsure whether the .exe version I have is the latest/greatest: It's AcronisTrueImage2020U1 and it's 610,873 kb, if that helps.

Other than losing the features that are unique to 2021, are there any downsides?

Will the backups I have from 2021 be compatible with a new installation of 2020? Or will I have to start from scratch?

The latest build of ACPHO now includes the option to perform a Custom Install which means you can choose not to install the features you don't like, want or use!

If you do decide to uninstall ACPHO then don't forget to cancel your Acronis subscription for the same unless you are keeping it for Acronis Cloud storage use.  You will need to do a full uninstall of ACPHO and I would recommend running the Acronis Clean up tool afterwards to ensure all trace is removed (link in my signature).

You can download the final build version of ATI 2020 from your Acronis Account assuming that you registered your serial in the account, otherwise you can download it from the Acronis Product Updates page which has download links for all the recent versions of ATI.

You would have to test to see if ATI 2020 will read & recognise your backups created with ACPHO - they may be fine but Acronis has never guaranteed forward compatibility for archive files, only backwards (see link below).

I would suggest making a clean start with new backups in ATI 2020 rather than trying to continue existing ones.  Keep those for a time while you get everything going again on 2020 and also make sure that you have created a copy of the ACPHO bootable rescue media before you uninstall it.

Thanks, so much, Steve: This is really helpful.

I'm paid till June 2023 for three machines, so I should consider the custom install of ACPHO at least until then.

Do I need to do a complete uninstall then reinstall to get rid of the Anti-ransomware and real-time protection features?

If you download the latest build installer and run this manually instead of allowing it to upgrade itself, then you should get the option to do a Custom Install.

Thanks so much--as always you've been a big help.

So I downloaded and installed version 40173 and when prompted by Windows selected "modify."

I confirmed that all the anti-ransom and real-time protection features are turned off.

But I'm surprised that Acronis still has so many entries in task manager (15, including a couple of duplicates).

Is this normal?

I don't believe that you should be showing duplicate entries, so would suggest restarting Windows then checking again.

Thanks, Steve. I did restart before this appeared.

I suspect it may have to do with having two user profiles active. I'll have to test for that and see.

As suspected. When I log out of the other account on this machine the duplicates disappear.
