Issues with adding Storage Node

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I am running Acronis® Backup & Recovery™ 10 Advanced Server Virtual Edition on Windows 2003 R2 SP2 and have a Windows XP SP3 workstation to serve as Storage Node. However, I have issues adding Storage Node (both using FQDN and IP address) via Management Console. Operation fails at "Adding the machine"

I get an error:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error

Failed to add the storage node.

OK, usually I am not posting stuff to forums since most of the issues I resolve myself. I just resolved this one as well a min ago. The solution clearly shows that Acronis Team needs some serious modification to their installation guide. When one wants to run Acronis services under custom domain user accounts, you need to indicate which permissions on which registry paths we should grant in addition to making users members of special group or assigning special rights on certain hosts. Or do you expect that everyone runs these services under domain admin accounts?

I had to grant write permissions to a user running Acronis Management Server Service on MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ACRONIS registry hive on the machine being added as Storage Node, so the required info about management server could be written to the registry.
