Acronis Sync Agent Service Problem

Thread needs solution

I just installed Windows 11 on a new PC and Acronis TI 2021. I have a big flyout notification from the right side of the screen telling me syncagentsrv.exe is optimizing. It does that every few minutes. They only way I can get it to stop is to go into Task Manger and stop Acronis Sync Agent Service.

I’m not sure what Acronis Sync Agent Service does, but do I need it, and how do I get this problem to stop?

The attached pic shows what I’m seeing every few minutes.

Dave, this is the first time I have seen this issue reported in the forums and I have never seen it with my own systems!

If you are not using Sync between any of your systems, then perhaps the simplest solution will be to set the Sync Agent service to Disabled in the Windows services.msc control panel.

Did you install ATI 2021 from an Administrator account?  If not, then that may be causing this issue due to not having the required authorities for background Acronis services.

Who is putting out this notification? It doesn't look like the Acronis software is, and I don't find a similar thing from Windows. Do you have some third party applications that could be doing it?

Try setting Sync Agent service to manual for a test. I run mine as Manual and have no problems although I believe it will get started at times (perhaps by the UI).

I'll have to uninstall and reinstall. I only have one account on this PC. I did get a couple of messages about "permissions" when I installed, but I assumed that was a new Windows 11 requirement?

Hello Dave K.

It's possible that the service is encountering some issues or conflicts with Windows 11, which is causing the repeated optimization messages. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  1. Check for updates: Make sure that both Windows 11 and Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office are up to date. Check for any available updates and install them if needed.

  2. Restart your computer: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve issues like this. Try restarting your computer to see if that clears the notification.

  3. Disable the service: If the issue persists, you can try disabling the Acronis Sync Agent Service. Open the Services app from the Start menu, find the service, right-click on it, and select "Properties". In the Properties window, set the "Startup type" to "Disabled", and click "OK". This will prevent the service from starting up and should stop the notifications.

Please let me know that solved the issue.

If the issue persists, please reply here or contact our support so we can investigate the situation https://kb.acronis.com/content/8153

Hope this helps!
