Error 0x1d03cc: failed to mount the EFI System volume

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have here an IPC 847D with a raid1 and made a backup via our acronis cyber protect 15 server and want to restore this to another IPC 847D which also has a raid1 configuration.

I downloaded the the backupfiles onto a usb SSD and booted on a acronis USB stick. The files for the USB stick were downloaded straight from the downloads menu via the web GUI of our server.

Then I select restore, click on the backup and say volume or disk restore (tried both) and select the raid disks that Im trying to restore to.

All standard so far.

Now the time it takes to do said restore is wildly different. Sometime it takes 5mins. and sometimes it takes 50mins with pretty much everything in between.

The result is always the same though, the restore process ends with the message "successfull with warnings" and the warning states that the efi system volume could not be mounted.

When Im trying to boot windows now, I get a bluescreen which states there are files are missing or contain errors.

I tried to apply some bcd and uefi boot fixes but no luck.

How do I get this restore to function?

Hello Kim!

It sounds like the restore process is not completing successfully due to the EFI system volume error. This can prevent the system from booting correctly, resulting in missing or corrupted files and a blue screen error.

One thing you could try is to check the source IPC 847D to make sure that the EFI system volume is properly mounted and working correctly. You can do this by running a file system check on the source IPC 847D, which can help identify and fix any errors with the EFI system volume.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/use-the-system-file-checker-t…

If the source IPC 847D checks out and you're still experiencing issues with the restore process, you may need to try some additional troubleshooting steps. Here are a few things you can try:

  1. Verify that the backup file you're restoring from is not corrupted or incomplete.

  2. Apply this solution recovering to a dissimilar hardware ( make sure you add the drivers of the the new machine ) : https://kb.acronis.com/content/35681

  3. Check the Acronis USB stick to make sure that it is working correctly and that all necessary drivers and files are present. You can do this by testing the USB stick on another system or by creating a new USB stick from scratch.

Please let me know if that fixed the issue.

If it persists, I suggest you contacting our support with the system report from the bootable media and the drivers you added in the bootable media.  https://kb.acronis.com/content/8153

Thanks.

Hello Jose,

First of all, I thank you for you taking your time and writing an answer.

I will do the file system check once the source IPC is free for use and then try to create a new backup if I see that it found something and redo the restore.

If you mean that I do the verification with the acronis boot medium - I already did that with no errors.

For your second step, I cannot apply acronis universal restore. The tool always states that it has not found a OS that it could apply the restore to. Also it is NOT dissimilar hardware. I specifically made sure that the hardware is as close to the original as possible. It even uses the exact same raid drivers and such.

For your third step, I already used 3-4 different USB sticks and formatted some of them and then applied acronis and tried again with no real changes as the result - still bsod when booting windows.

I also tried different backups, sometimes full, sometimes inkremetials, I also tried manual backups via a Acronis USB stick instead of the server ones. No luck so far...

Edit: I checked the files via dism and sfc and nothing was wrong according to said tools. Therefore im back at square one..

Hello Kim!

The error codes refers to the hardware not being detected or corrupt file system. Please try the step 1 when possible. You can also check this web page, there are instructions for this windows error: https://www.makeuseof.com/fix-windows-10-error-code-0xc00000e/

If the issue persists and there aren't issues detected I suggest contacting our support because this requires investigation. https://kb.acronis.com/content/8153

Thanks in advance!

Hello Jose,

If by step 1 you mean I should verify the backupfile, I did that and I got no errors.

If you mean by step 1 I should follow the link and do step 1 there (using windows repair) I don't have a win7 boot stick or cd available sadly.

I now took a disk from the productive computer since that one has a raid1 and made a clone.

Now I have a cloned disk but that disk does not boot either and Im not sure how to continue nown :/
