I am using Acronis True image for Western Digital.

I get the following when I do a daily back up to my NAS, Please can you advise on how to rectify :

Nilesh, welcome to these public User Forums.

The error shown in you log snippet can be 'normal' in some circumstances for some destinations due to such as timing issues / delays.

Download a copy of the MVP Assistant log viewer tool and use this to look at the logs to see if they show any issues during the operation process?

The latest version of the new log viewer tool is at the link below.
MVP Assistant - New 2.0 with Rescue Media Builder (New Version 2.5.1)

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant.

The Schedule2 log contains information related to scheduled task but is one of the more difficult logs to read / work through.

The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.

Hi,

I have used the MVP assistant but does not give me a reason why I am seeing these errors.

My back is currently taking place to my Synology NAS, on my network.  The error only occurs when I back up to a network device.

When I set backup to a local hdd, say in a caddy attached the pc, no errors are generated ,  See below :-

So, the issue must be with Acronis software backing up to a network device.

As my NAS on the network is just fine and accesable to everyone on my network with fast speeds.

Currently my NAS has 4 x 1GB network cables going into a Unifi 8 port managed switch, where they are link aggregated.

I use a Unifi UDM as my router.

So don't think it is my network that is causing the issue.

I am ok to backup locally for now, but would like to backup to my NAS, without any errors.

What type of backup are you making?  Disks & Partitions or Files & Folders?

Hi Nilesh.

Thanks for commenting.

The error code:  Error 0x40007: Error occurred while opening the file, may suggest issues on the file system or disk.

Please run the CHKDSK on the machine: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/windows…

I would advised you to check on the NAS the status of the disks in the panel to see if there are any errors as well.

If the issue persists, please contact our support ( follow this KB https://kb.acronis.com/content/8153 ) with the results from the CHKDSK, screenshots from the NAS ( showing the disks are good ) and the system report of the machine https://kb.acronis.com/content/69418 .

Hope this helps.

Thanks in advance.

I have run chkdsk on all my drives on my local PC, all are ok, no errrors.

I have also checked my NAS, all the disks are Healthy, no issues.

I have Synology Drive client syncing my documents and pictures on my local pc, this work flawlessly.

I've decided its too much hassle trying to backup to my nas, I have instead connected an external drive to my pc and backs up on there ok.

btw, I have a few other friends that have tried backing up there Synology NAS's also, they experience the same issues and error, So more than likely Acronis has some compatibility issues with Synology or even Nas's for that matter.

I backup my entire PC.

I have been backing up my own systems to my Synology NAS for many years without any such issues but there is one key difference is that I never choose 'Entire PC' for the source of any of my backup tasks.  I always use Disks & Partitions then select individual drives per task.

I have tried just backing up my Disks & Partitions only on my PC to my NAS, I still get the following error :-

Hello Nilesh.

I am sorry to inform but your last post is empty.

Could you please specify if you need any help regarding the issue?

Thanks.

Like Steve Smith I have been doing files and folders, and disk + partitions backups to my Synology NAS for many years. I have never done whole pc backups as I prefer granular process where frequency of the backup reflect the pattern of usage of the partitions or folders. I know that Steve Smith takes a similar approach.

Ian

As with Steve and Ian, I too backup to a Synology NAS (DS220+) without problem. I use File/Folder and Disk/Partition, but never Entire PC.

-------------------------------

The backups via 2.5 GbE Lan to the Asustor Lockerstor 2 AS6602T don't always work for me either, if you want to save 4 or more full backups on the NAS, for example.

Either validation fails or the NAS may hang. If you delete the last failed backup version and start the backup again, the backup usually runs without problems.

The problem is amplified if you watch a YouTube video at the same time.

Of course, it could also be a Windows problem.
