Non recoverable Corrupted Tibx file unable to mount or transform to Vhd .

Thread needs solution

Windows 11 Uefi bootsystem - True image 2020 latest upgrade - tibx file on one of the internal disks.

While trying to recover in ATI2020 I get the error code 0x01010005 when invoking the tibx file. Happens in Win10 also. The backup was made for files and folders selected by me and can't be mounted as an image. No 12KB file present. This backup contains valuable Data for me. It is most important to recover certain informations. Data got probably corrupted due to a disk crash but the backup disk was not involved in this crash.

Thank you

Francis

Fdc, welcome to these public User Forums.

The backup was made for files and folders selected by me and can't be mounted as an image. No 12KB file present.

Your statement above is correct!

A Files & Folders backup file does contain any Partitions and therefore has never been able to be Mounted as that operation requires a partition be present to allocate a drive letter to!

Files & Folders backup files are .TIB and therefore do not have any 12KB metadata .TIBX file associated with them.

What you should be able to do is to open the .TIB file either within the Acronis application you have installed, or by double-clicking on the file in Explorer to open it, then using Copy & Paste for any of the files or folders held inside.

See KB 63240: Acronis True Image 2020: how to restore files from a backup (Windows) - and scroll down the document to the section showing how to open .tibx or .tib files in Explorer by double-clicking on the files.

Hello Fdc.

Welcome to the forum!

Please check the following solutions:

  1. Ensure the backup file (the .tibx file) is accessible: Double-check that the backup file is present in the correct location and hasn't been moved, renamed, or deleted accidentally.

  2. Validate manually the backup: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ATI2020/#38815.html

  3. Try the option suggested above by Steve and check if once you open the backup file you can browse the archives ( note: if the backup is corrupt the chances of accessing any kind of file and recovering are extremely low ).

Thanks in advance!

Hi steve & Pedro,

I am referring to a tibx file although it was made with a file folder backup. How is that possible ???

When I trye to add that existing backup *.tibx into ATI2020 I get immediately the error 0x01010005 saying that the file is corrupted. Could it be because the file has been moved from it's original location. Is there a way to find back this original location.

When I double click on the tibx I get the message "Please locate the last volume of the backup" and I can point to a file different from the choosen one. I don't have another and if I re-specifie the same tibx file I get the message "Folder empty". Is there a way to inspect the contents of this tibx file other than these two methods so that I can recuperate some important data. I dont care if the backup gets unusable.

Pedro I hope I will be in category of the happy few who could manage the recuperation though, even partly.

Francis

Francis, sorry but all Files & Folders backups create .tib files just as they have always done so, even for ATI 2020, 2021 and ACPHO.

Has your backup extension been changed from .tib to .tibx?

The only other way that .tibx files are created is for Mobile Backups but these again are not compatible with the main Acronis application and can only be opened via the Mobile Backup app on a phone or tablet or viewed via the Acronis Drive feature if the mobile backup was to the PC.

If the .tibx file has been moved from its original location, then that can cause issues, especially if other associated files were not moved with it, including a 12kb metadata .tibx file that may also be present when more than one version chain has been created for the backup task.
