vShpere Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password

Thread needs solution

Running VMware ESXi, 7.0.3 on 2 machines and monitoring via vCenter Server.

I backup all VMs but I am randomly getting "Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password." for one on my VMs.

"TROUBLESHOOT

In the Agent for VMware settings, enter correct credentials for VMware ESXi host or vCenter Server."

It's really odd because this VM is really no different from the other VMs I am successfully backing up.

I am at a loss here.

Note I am running 2 Acronis appliances, one for each WMware ESXi machine.

Probably the error is the following: 

  1. "SOAP 1.1 fault: "":ServerFaultCode[no subcode] "Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password."

     

    Verify credentials of the specified ESX(i) host or the vCenter. See Assigning Privileges for ESXi Hosts and Assigning Permissions for ESXi for details.

What I do not understand is why I would have a problem backing up just one of my VMs?  This problem VM is on a host that has many VMs, all of which backup fine.

If the VM has the correct permissions assigned I suggest you to raise a ticket with our support so the issue can be investigated https://kb.acronis.com/content/8153
