why so many backup files

Thread needs solution

My question is why does the Acronis back up to 3 folders that seem to have the same content but are different sizes. My image  START shows my Acronis settings. Image DAILY shows the backup folder and the other 3 images show the contents.I assume that a7-00 is probably an index file.

From what I see, all the folder images show the same folder... S:\acr\Daily Win 11. This folder is full of disk/partition backups.

If you're asking about the 12kb file, that is normal for a .tibs backup chain. DO NOT delete this file. In fact, do not delete any .tibx files outside of the Acronis UI.

Further to Bruno's comments.

Your images show correct / normal operation for a Daily backup task with a large number of incremental backups configured prior to creating a new full backup image.

Your backup task has been running since January 2022 and the file listing shows you are on the 29th iteration of the backup version chain (-0029.tibx).

All the files within that version chain will automatically show exactly the same content, even the 12kb metadata file (with no numeric suffix) that started the chain.

See the following KB documents published by Acronis with regards to .tibx files.
