Hi
1. What product to get?
a. Single windows server 2003 standard SP2.
2. Can back up to USB drive?
3. In a differential backup scenario, can Recovery 10 perform auto consolidation of the oldest two backups to preserve an unattended sliding window of say 90 days of backups?
a. In my home 11, I could never get it to work.
4. Can the User be informed each day that the preceding night’s back-up was a success via E-Mail?
5. Can the User Mount a virtual drive letter to a backup on the server?
a. This feature crashed another one of my client’s small B server 2003.

If it is only one server I would recommend Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 Server for Windows. It is used as a standalone to create a backup of this server.

You can save your backups to USB drive, please check this article for additional information. Auto consolidation can be performed, in ABR10 this feature is called retention rules. Here we have a detailed explanation of this feature and examples for setting it up.

The user can be informed each day that the backup was successful by using e-mail notifications.
