Can I restore from a partial TIB archive?

Thread needs solution

Hello,
I have a customer that filled their USB drive and didn't notice it had happened. Their TIB file is very large and when I try to recover or verify it I get an error that leads me to believe their backup was run but never finished because of the drive getting full.

My question is whether or not there is a way to open the TIB file and recover any data from it. The customer is using Acronis True Image 10. I have tried to read the file using Acronis Home 2009 and get the same results.

Thanks.

If the drive got full then it means the metadata describing the layout of the archvie was not recorded.

Restoring an image or validating an image certainly requires the entire archive be present. Mounting or Exploring is less stringent so if you can't mount or explore the image then you are out of luck. There are no tools to handle bad archives.

If the backups were Incrementals and only the last one was affected, you may be able to rename that file so that TI won't try to link it to the set. The backups created up to that point should still be good (assuming they were good already).
