Found one solution to MFT bitmap corrupted error
A couple of months ago I started getting t he MFT bitmap corrupted error. Tech Support could not help me after going back and forth with them many times. They told me the drive was defective and that was that.
Over the weekend I started playing with it some more. Turns out that if I turn off File Exclusions it backs up fine. If I turn on File Exclusions and I add files / directories, the backup fails with MFT bitmap corrupted error.
Sounds like my hard drive is fine and there is a bug with the software.

I have run chkdsk a few times, both with the /r option and without (some postings suggested that works). That has not corrected the problem. Not sure what you mean by add diff files. It won't do a differential backup once a full backup is done, it exits first with the MFT bitmap error.

I meant add different files to the exclusion lilst -- does oti matter what files are excluded?

It doesn't matter what's excluded. I turned it on with just the defaults in there. Then I took them out and just left *.tmp. Then I took that out and added c:\temp. Every time it failed.

"C:\temp" is a valid file or folder? If a file, try adding an extension; if a folder, try adding "\*.*" without the quotes, of course.

Hello Pat and Scott,
Thank you for posting and your kind help.
Pat, let me provide you with additional assistance.
If you have ran chkdsk with the parameter and the MFT bitmap issue still persists then most likely it is caused by our low-level drivers which are responsible for disk operations.
I will send you a private message in a few moments with an update, I would really appreciate if you could get back to us with the results.
Please let me know if you need additional help.
Thank you.
