MVP Assistant Rescue Media with Windows 11 -- black screen background after boot

Thread needs solution

Two of the MVPs have experienced an issue, but I have seen no other reports of it on the forum so I'm tossing out this question.

The problem we experience is that when booting the rescue media we get the proper wallpaper, but it disappears after a second and the screen background is black. The applications work fine so we still see the launch bar, ACPHO and any other programs we start. Oddly, after almost exactly 5 minutes (yes, five minutes!) the MVP Assistant wallpaper comes back.

We've only experienced it with Windows 11, not Windows 10. I am wondering if anyone else has seen this. If so, please let me know what your video setup is... graphics adapter, driver, connections, monitor.

Thanks.

Additional testing and I discovered that the vanilla WinRE rescue media build from the ACPHO app also demonstrated the same failure... it just was not as obvious. The symptom was that hovering the mouse over the black background shows an hourglass cursor for 5 minutes and then it goes to an arrow. This problem is only on WinRE and not with the ADK version. It seems possibly limited to Windows 11 22H2 at this time.

Anyway, it is very hard to track down so if anyone else is experiencing this I would like to know.

Bruno, I have seen similar behaviour with WinRE media but rather than the whole screen being black, I have been seeing a black box / rectangle towards the top left corner about the size of a terminal window, and opening any apps then leaves further black boxes...!

It doesn't seem to affect any of the applications or functions so is more cosmetic.  I have not been using the ADK option to prove it is limited only to WinRE.

Steve, I believe what you are seeing is the same issue. I have tracked it down part way, but not there yet.
