New version any time soon?
Hi all,
When will Acronis release a new version of true image for mac? I have been waiting almost a year for a new version since the current version had a lot of issue's on my macbook air m1. Especially with the release of the new mac os Sonoma I assume it can't be that long?
Thanks,
Sander

It's disappointing that the macOS product is neglected by Acronis. Significant features are missing and it doesn't support the latest OS.

Version 28.1.1.40752 has been released, which includes support for macOS 14.0.
Unfortunately though, the backup fails. Hopefully a working version will be released soon.

Please note the new build for MAC was released during the last week: https://dl.acronis.com/u/homeoffice/rn/2024/en-US/AcronisCyberProtectHo…

The error is not related to the product version but is mostly associated with the backup destination. You are saving backups to a removable drive attached to the protected machine or to a network share that resides on a removable device.
Solution: Reattach the drive used as the backup destination and attempt the backup again (If it's a NAS, reboot it).
Check for Sufficient Disk Space: Ensure that there is enough available disk space on the destination where the backup is being stored.
File Integrity: Verify the integrity of the files being backed up. There could be a problem with the files themselves if they are corrupted or incomplete (Validate the backup in the console).
Hardware Health: Check the health of the hardware involved, including the storage devices. Disk errors or hardware failures can cause backup problems. You can use the 'chkdsk' command (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/windows-commands/chkdsk) for this.
Permissions: Confirm that the user or process running the backup operation has the necessary permissions to access and write to the source and destination locations.
Network Issues: If the backup operation involves transferring data over a network, check for network connectivity issues or congestion that could disrupt the operation.
If the issue persists, please raise a support ticket with us at: https://kb.acronis.com/content/8153.
Best regards.

Thank you for the information.
But no, it's related to the version. The backup has been working for years and it started failing as soon as I upgraded. I'm backing up to the Acronis Cloud with plenty of free space.

I reinstalled version 27.3.40208 and the same backup worked again.

Hello!
Probably there was a temporary issue with the destination or an issue with the services in somehow because as far as I can see there aren't any reported issues with the error code you mentioned above.
If the issue persists after please update the thread.
Best regards.

It is not a temporary issue. The problem is version 28.1.1.40752.

Hello!
Then please follow our suggestion and raise a ticket. As far as I can see no other tickets are open with that error, this must be investigated. https://kb.acronis.com/content/8153

Thank you for the response. I did file a ticket a couple days ago but haven't heard back yet.

I guess support is struggling with this issue.
I was contacted by support a couple weeks ago and reinstalled the 28.1.40752 update to collect information. As before, the backup stopped working. I collected screenshots and data and sent it to support.
Then I downgraded to 27.3.40208 and the backup started working, again.
Although the backup works with 27.3.40208, the protection settings are broken with macOS Sonoma. Hopefully this can be fixed soon.
Here are the various error codes that occur with the updated version.
- Error 0x40019: Error occurred while backing up
- Error 0x29b1397: Object is locked
- Error 0x40016: Network disconnected by timeout
- Error 0x980322: Failed to open certificate file

Hello Brian.
The old agents don't support Sonoma. Just the latest build.
Regarding the ticket I have communicated the situation. You can expect a reply as soon as possible.
Best regards.

Today I tried a few more times. First, I completed deleted the backup and the machine entry on the Online Dashboard. Next I uninstalled v27, rebooted, and installed v28.
I then created a new backup with the same settings - an entire machine backup, encrypted, with exclusions, to Acronis Cloud.
It still failed.

I once again uninstalled v28 and reinstalled v27 and completed the new backup successfully.
The only success I had with v28 was a single file backup to the cloud. Not very useful though.
