How do I turn off constant "New Version Available" pop-ups? They are driving me nuts!

Thread needs solution

I've turned off "check for updates" and disabled the pop-ups and icon in the windows tray manager.

Aaron, welcome to these user forums.

Please can you confirm what exact version and build you are using, i.e. ATIH 2016 build 6571 is the latest / last available version that you should have installed - I have not seen any particular pop-ups arising from using this on the systems which have that version installed myself?

Aaron, couple of further questions:

Do you have a subscription license or a perpetual license for ATI 2016?  If you have a subscription license it may be suggesting an upgrade to 2017.

On the pop-up messages, do you see any option to 'Do not show this again' or similar words?

Hi Steve,

I have a perpetual license.

The options are something like "tell me more" and "decide later".  Both of which I have clicked trying to stop it.

I'm thinking the solution is to block some of the acronis startup services.  Any idea which ones are safe not to start?

Thanks!

Aaron, please see KB document: 56697: Acronis True Image 2016: Services and Processes which describes all the ATIH 2016 Services & Processes.

You should be able to disable the Non Stop & Sync Agent services if you don't use these.  The Managed Machine Mini Service for the Dashboard is more difficult as every time that I have tried stopping / disabling that, it has been reset and automatically started again!

Thanks, I will try disabling those.

I don't think I'll be buying Acronis products again.

You'll need to create firewall rules to block inbound and outbound access for the following True Image component.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\TrueImageMonitor.exe"

Hi! Asked my colleagues to exclude your account from the promo campaigns

Please exclude me, these are getting old. The lack of telling customers whether this is a bug or intentional is concerning. Might not have me as a customer in the future.

Dear Eric,
Thank you for reaching out. We bring our apologies for the delay in response. Can you please specify, where from you would like to be excluded exactly? Did we get it right, that you are talking about Acronis promo campaigns?

Hello!

This post is outdated, and the solution provided above is no longer available.

In fact, there are pop-ups with promotions for users with our legacy versions.

You can disable them by clicking the exit button at the top right corner.

We have conveyed your feedback about those pop-ups to the team.

Thanks in advance!

If you just exit out per suggestion above, that does not stop these adds.  I own numerous Acronis licenses from over the years.  I also would like to be excluded from the promo campaigns.  I found the newest versions consitantly cause BSOD's across many devices, I actually had to restore the system because the BSOD's caused corruption of OS data.  Using the older legacy product fully works.  As a long time veteran using these products the constant updates have been pushed prematurely rather then building a rugged product and working out the known bugs.  The new protections actually block key system functions causing the BSOD's, I had to add those to program after the crashes but the damage was done to my system files.  Acronis needs to spend some time working out kinks in these new protection features to make sure that critical functionality of systems is not blocked in the name of protection and crashing computers.  For now please remove my account from promos that pop up randomly across all my systems.

Hello!

Please review the answer provided above regarding the pop-ups.

Regarding the issues you describe with a crashing OS, we do not currently have any incoming tickets reporting such situations. In fact, the product should not be causing such issues. If you are using any version of Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office and are experiencing this situation, please raise a ticket at https://kb.acronis.com/content/8153.

Thanks in advance!

One option for users with a perpetual license is to sign out of their Acronis Account on the Account page of the Acronis application GUI and also to set the Acronis Managed Machine Service Mini background Windows service to be 'Manual' for the Start up option, to stop it communicating with the Acronis servers.  This should stop the pop-up marketing messages!
