Acronis 2020 Does not Access Backup Disk

Thread needs solution

I posted this topic last night and received  an emailed comment this  morning with a pointer to it:

You can view the comment at the following url: https://forum.acronis.com/comment/628514#comment-628514

This morning when I try to follow the link I get an error message "Page Not Found". And when I look at my account's "Created Topics" it's no longer listed there. Someone deleted my topic!! Will someone who manages this site tell me what's going on??

So I am copying my offline copy of my topic and posting it here again:

I had this in another thread [Acronis 2020 Says Backup Disk "Not there""] but someone marked it "SOLVED" when it very much was NOT solved. And I can't post anything to it.

Trying to run a differential backup that  has run many times before, Acronis 2020 says the backup disk isn't there. I can see and display the contents of the disk in Windows Explorer. I can also select "Open Location" in the dropdown for that backup and Acronis displays the backup's contents. But when I try to do the differential backup Acronis shows a red X on the Backup screen connection display and therefore fails.

This Issue is NOT solved. This keeps happening. I did not unplug/re-plug USB disk, as someone suggested as the cause of the problem. There likely  is also a Windows bug here, as someone also suggested - but there is most definitely a big Acronis bug. After a week of shutting down and starting the computer after this failure, Acronis still says the disk isn't there and can't be accessed, while Windows says it's attached and displays all of the folders/files on it. So in addition to it not seeing the disk to begin with, Acronis remembers it had a failure with that disk and just has it "marked" somewhere that it is still not there. I've had to dedicate a different, second USB disk to run backups.

Your original topic is still shown in the forum listing: Acronis 2020 Says Backup Disk "Not there""

It is possible that something about the 'missing' backup disk has changed, i.e. a disk signature or volume identifier, so reselecting it in the Acronis GUI for your backup task may resolve that unless you have changed the task already to use the different, second USB disk.  If so, then you could use the option to 'Add existing backup' from the original backup disk to select the existing backups on that disk but that could also cause further confusion if keeping the second disk as well.

As far as any bugs in Acronis True Image (any version), then you are out of luck and out of support as all such products / versions are long out of their published support life cycle and Acronis will only fix issues that can be reproduced from the new flagship Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office product subscription product.

Hello!

If the issue is not resolved, please refrain from creating new threads to report the exact same situation, as this can lead to misunderstandings. It is advised to follow up on the original thread at: https://forum.acronis.com/forum/acronis-true-image-2020-forum/acronis-2020-says-backup-disk-not-there

Best regards.

Before complaining about my opening a new thread on the same problem, I suggest you actually read what I wrote:

1) "I had this in another thread [Acronis 2020 Says Backup Disk "Not there""] but someone marked it "SOLVED" when it very much was NOT solved. And I can't post anything to it."

2) Because of being blocked from adding anything to that first "solved" thread, I opened a new thread to which someone replied and for which I received email notification: "You can view the comment at the following url: https://forum.acronis.com/comment/628514#comment-628514"

But when I went  to read that comment, I could not because the whole thread had been deleted.

I suggest the "problems" with this forum - someone marking my thread "solved" without my concurrence and then someone deleting my replacement thread - be addressed.
