Cannot connect to Linkstation Pro using FTP

Thread needs solution

When configuring a backup job and trying to select FTP as an option and then my Linkstation Pro as a destination it never shows the contents of the drive. It asks me for a username and password but then just hangs at the point it is "Checking vault". I can use it over SMB though.

I can confirm that connecting via FTP works for other applications such as FileZilla, IE, Firefox and a DOS session. I have previously trialled True Image Echo and that worked using FTP also but B&R10 refuses.

Update: I have just finished creating a backup job to my private FTP space on Virgin Media. It took an absolute age for it to finish processing and bring me back to the screen where I could configure the rest of the backup jobs parameters. It's been running now for 7 minutes and hasn't uploaded so much as a single byte. I'm going to leave this running over night if it has to just to see if it will complete.

Update 2: Just came back to find that the backup job to the private FTP site completed but it took 17 minutes to backup 11MB of data!! I tried my Linkstation again and after about 3 or 4 minutes of checking the vault it gave up and said it was unavailable.

Hello Howard,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]

Are you trying to organize a managed or an unmanaged vault? Only an unmanaged vault can be organized on FTP and SFTP servers.

What is the exact FTP server you are using? Acronis Backup & Recovery cannot access FTP servers that do not confirm transfer completion after the LIST command or do not support MLST and MLSD commands. An example of such FTP servers is ProFTPD

This is expected to be fixed in future updates.

Thank you.

It is the FTP server built in to my Linkstation Pro NAS box. I would like to point out that it worked perfectly it True Image 9 and Echo Workstation. But it is horrifically slow using B&R 10.

It doesn't even allow you to browse the FTP server folder structure, meaning you have to manually enter the full path to where you want the backups to go. The same behaviour is observed when trying to FTP to my Virgin Media web space, just for testing purposes of course. But as I say it does eventually work it just takes a hell of a long time. Something like 5-10 minutes to back up 10MB of data.
