Constant Backup Failure

Thread needs solution

I am running Cyber Protect Home Office Build 40901, and constantly, on one particular backup set, I get an error message that tells me, "This is not the last volume of the backup archive. Click Retry," or some similar text..  When I click on options, I see "Failed to Open Backup (my path) Check your network connections.

I cannot even get into options to see what the problem is.  Why?

My network connection is fine, I can see the target NAS and access the Acronis folder without

Why can't Acronis inform me of the error and COMPLETE A BACKUP SET without having to delete the backup and start all over again?  I am not interested in incremental backups, I have (I think but I CANNOT GET INTO OPTIONS TO CONFIRM) run the backup 6 days ago without issue, but now everything is ferclumpt.

Anal retentiveness can only go so far.

To be honest, I have no idea what is going on here. Have you tried Validating the backup - no sure it will work but may do so.

But first you should look at the relevant log files which may help. You can access the log files using the MVP Assistant - New 2.0 with Rescue Media Builder (New Version 2.7.6)

@Steve Smith provides the following advice for identifying the relevant log files:

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant.

The Schedule2 log contains information related to scheduled task but is one of the more difficult logs to read / work through.

Robert, the message about last volume can be caused by deleting or moving any backup files outside of using the tools provided by Acronis - this is because there is metadata and SQL databases tracking those files which gets messed up if files are deleted using such as Explorer.

What type of backup are you making here if not using incrementals?

As Ian has mentioned, the logs are the best place to start looking for clues as to what is happening.
